Hackson admitted to using Bakshi's scene as he loved it so much. Inf act Hackson had the book with the movie still from bakshi's as the cover.
I always had a problem with "THE EYE" as a literal eye at the top of baradur. The desxription was metaphorical. Sauron was actually regaining his body and was literally inside his tower. I get that they had to convey Sauron's restless gaze. But an actual eye with emotion was silly.
Nah, the eye was fine. It was an unusual and unique thing for the trilogy. Otherwise you would not see Sauron whatsoever in the whole trilogy. Ideas on the page don't convert 1to1 to the screen, so them feeling evil and his presence needs to be done visually, which Jackson did. It worked great and also got across that Sauron was not able to take physical form and was still trying to regain his power the whole time.
The initial purpose was just to control their kingdoms through them. Then they eventually became wraiths totally enslaved to him so he just figured why not.
childhood is loving the hackson lotr trilogy
edgy teenage is recognizing hackson left a lot of good shit outta the books
adulthood is realizing and accepting that only a true Catholic autistic director could do LOTR justice as a 6 season (2 seasons for every book) miniseries on hbo
Both scenes (breaking the gate and the duel with Eowyn) are better done by Rankin/Bass than Hackson's yes but the fricking pegasus here throws me off. Why the frick is he on a pegasus? There are no winged horses in Arda. The fel beasts have always been pterodactyls and he's on one like he's supposed to be when fighting Eowyn.
Where do bad guys get those tiny skulls they use to adorn their outfits?
Animals.

frickin skeletor soundin ass
>hinder MEEEEEEE?
cartoon eowyn is my wife
A lot of things were weird or just bad, but some were much better. This scene is an example, the Nazguls are way better in this.
wow didn't realize jackson was such a hack
Did they stuff Bill in the back of that hole?
Why did people pretend like Bakshi was a great director for so long?
That's actually a pretty cool drawing of the leader of the Nazgul.
This is a pretty good scene
As always, the unused concept arts are much better.
people would be b***hing about the cgi eyes to this day
it looks cool as a drawing, probably just didn't look as cool as a prop
These guys were the biggest jobbers. What made Sauron think they were the bestest warriors ever and he should turn them into his personal henchmen?
Second guy from the right is really confused about what to do with his ring.
The initial purpose was just to control their kingdoms through them. Then they eventually became wraiths totally enslaved to him so he just figured why not.
They should have regained their kingdoms. Nine undead kingdoms would have stomped Rohan and Gondor easily.
