I mean, you don't have to draw every single individual frame compared to having models move on a timeline. It's more expensive than 2d, but because it's a much faster process, you can pump out more stuff in general.
To be fair, I'm talking more about movies.
2D no longer sells, and 3D gets more people in seats. Disney put out a couple of 2D animated movies in recent years and they sold like shit. 3D is the way to go and is the standard for a reason.
It's about saving costs and time. Same reason why modern anime uses dogshit CGI for parts they don't have time to do in 2D with their limited schedule and budget.
Ignore the nostalgia shitters anon. I hate how they've tried hard to push "He's the smart guy, get it?" with some of Donatello's recent designs. "Double D" Donnie from the 2012 series was one of the more subtle attempts and I really appreciated that one.
I mean yeah? That's like the bare minimum of a character design. Say what you will about Rise, it at least took actual character design into consideration rather than just slap shit on them like the Bay movies did.
>supposedly worship 2D to the point you'll create new methods to emulate 2D in CG
>instead of just making the movie 2D
Traditional 2D is a much longer process than 3D, no matter how you cut it.
Just goes to show superior 3D is
I'm sure you have sources to back up your claims

just don't cut it then

>Disney put out a couple of 2D animated movies in recent years
They did?
If you consider the late 00s/early 10s recent then anon has a point. Supposedly there is a 2D project in the works though.
Its the Tiana show. They're attempting make it theatrical quality which is probably why it keeps getting delayed.
Whats the point of the 2D fellating? Its not "better" than 3D in any way.
Disney and Ghibli shills trying to prop up their dying medium.

>Donatello wearing glasses
I fricking hate this shit, it's so lazy
That’s such a weird thing to complain about
Dude it's Ninja Turtles fans. They'll be complaining that the angle on someones shell is different and it will be a years long conflict
That sounds more like a older fandom problem than TMNT exclusive.
No I just think it's lazy that your character design is giving the nerd glasses when he didn't need them before this
Can you stop your b***hing for once ninja Turtles gays? God this is just like Rise all over again.

Nostalgiashitters are the ones crying about fricking glasses
Nostalgia shutters are the ones crying about people making an extremely minor complaint about character designs.
>calling something lazy is crying somehow
>Putting an accessory on a character is lazy
I mean yeah? That's like the bare minimum of a character design. Say what you will about Rise, it at least took actual character design into consideration rather than just slap shit on them like the Bay movies did.
>Putting an accessory on a character isn't lazy
I see no mogging,only mediocrity.
>How dare people try something different!
Why do TMNT gays cry so much about everything?
last show didn't exactly inspire confidence in future incarnations.
>crying even more
