You will never get another Master and Commander and that is a good thing. Imagine it today, half the crew would be non-whites and women, there would be a forced gay romance subplot, some woman on board showing up Aubrey as a better naval mind.
AUBREY: Ngubbu, good man! How on Earth did you know to sail on that heading to catch our man? >Ngubbu, Prince of Ghana (proud): My people built the first civilizations and great monuments like the pyramids. You white men think nautical navigation is beyond us? Don't make me laugh!
Checked and Hornblowerpilled. Came to post this and it’s the first time I’ve ever seen anyone talk about it here. Everyone who enjoyed Master and Commander owes it to themselves to watch Hornblower. Maritime kino of the highest order
You should try reading the book, it's even slower.
It certainly gives a realistic impression of life at sea when you were reliant on the wind and it took weeks or even months to get anywhere.
Comfy. Imagine slowly catching up to the other ship, knowing that when you do you will have to fight for your life. Many hours spent contemplating your own mortality. Kino.
>Peter Lindsay Weir AM (/wJər/ WEER; born August 21, 1944) is an Australian retired film director. He is known for directing films crossing various genres over forty years with films such as Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975), Gallipoli (1981), Witness (1985), Dead Poets Society (1989), Fearless (1993), The Truman Show (1998), Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003), and The Way Back (2010). He has received six Academy Award nominations, ultimately being awarded the Academy Honorary Award in 2022 for his lifetime achievement career.[1]
Why was Peter Weir such a lazy bastard, every movie he directed was great, but he did like five movies.
Why does someone have to work forever? That's for the poor and not the rich. The rich can retire whenever they want and then enjoy life instead of making movies.
I think he retired at a good time because apparently young people don't even watch movies and I don't watch much anymore either.
Watched this tonight for the first time, I feel it also deserves the title of moidslop (aka abject kino). How did Crowe pull out so many amazing movies?
He's just an older Ryan Gosling aka had the everyman look and being super relatable for male viewers. I think it's a good comparison because they literally shared a movie (The Nice Guys) and it was like old and new coming together.
I'm actually not sure what women watch because I don't even speak to them on Cinemaphile. Whatever they watch would be foidslop because there's no intelligent women. Just go and ask them what they watch.
So hot. Never seen the movie, but she was a favorite for my teenage coomer brain. So scarce were breasts in the nineties. I exclusively watched this show to see her get nude. Of course it never happened. The whole show evolved around teasing. I watch it for Lisa.
Is CC down or something?
No wonder you like it. Since you'll never be a woman.
Manhating kiwifoid detected
one of the goat ship movies
>LET FLY!
>LET FLY!
Good movie. They should film the rest of the books too. Also Hornblower now that whats-his-name is old enough to look like a Captain or Admiral tbh

why do Japanese ships look so goofy?
AUBREY (visibly impressed): Where did you learn how to tie ropes like that?
MIDSHIPMAN MISS CAPABLE (pregnant): My mother taught me.
AUBREY: Ngubbu, good man! How on Earth did you know to sail on that heading to catch our man?

>Catch him! He's getting away!
The slowest chase ever to be captured on film ensues. Might as well watch snails cutting grass.

Fair point. I still prefer Tokyo Drift.

Manslop
No-one who liked m&c qualifies as a man.
What is foidslop?
Barbie looks like foidslop to me. I don't see the appeal of it at all.
I'm actually not sure what women watch because I don't even speak to them on Cinemaphile. Whatever they watch would be foidslop because there's no intelligent women. Just go and ask them what they watch.
Barbie is moidslop too

Christmas Mail is peak cinema and I will stand by these words
Can you post the word "slop" more? Preferably in a foreign accent? It's really cool.
