This and Ghostwatch are the most immersive found footage horror because the acting is so understated. In American found footage horror you always have actors playing it up and saying shit like "What the frick was that!" "Calm down, Jeremy you're freaking everyone out!" etc.
That and the soundtrack squawking at you to let you know something scary is happening.

I feel it has way too much build up for 20 (admittedly good) minutes of spookiness. It's an okay film with a pretty good gimmick/reveal.
Btw the best scene in this isn't the phone scene but the second to last scene where the mom and the daughter's sessions with the psychic play at the same time and you slowly realize that the daughter had a vision of her ghost trapped in the house, unable to communicate with her family and her mom didn't see her. Great "when you realize it" moment.

It was an alright movie, but it was a terrible found footage movie. The script is clearly written for a traditional movie with the found footage aspect really tacked on. All the characters talk like they are in a regular movie and you have these very clear-cut character arcs. That isn't bad, but it makes it obvious that it's not even trying to be believable as actual footage someone found, which is in my opinion the reason a good found footage horror film works. I feel like if you rate As Above So Below that highly, you just like regular horror movies and don't really like found footage horror movies.

It’s just a very boring movie with one creepy scene. Everything’s told after the fact so there’s absolutely zero suspense. The fakeout was completely unnecessary and deflated the movie and ultimately contributes nothing to the movie. It was just filler for the sake of padding out time
