Movies to get out of depression.

If that one anon is still around and didn't saw my reply, here is a new thread since it archived. Also it might help others.
>be me
>she died 1 1/2 years ago, suicide
>i phoned with her the day before she did it
>depressed as frick, lost my soulmate
>constant suicidal thought and nightmares
>alcohol, weed, ampehtamines, cocaine, mdma, lsd, 2cb - nothing helped with the pain, just numbed myself
>first time i got shrooms, watched pic related
>finally seeing the worthy part of life
You will cry, you will talk with your subconscious or something not from this dimension, still can't tell, but you will fight your fears and afterwards you will feel peacefull. Trust me, i know this is hard, but i can't imagine how else i would had accepted, that life also means that we sometimes have hard times. Enjoy the journey, with or without shrooms. Still one of the best movies ever to accept that everything is balanced!

i recommend samsara in every shroom recommendation thread on tv

watched it much the same (first time watching something on mushrooms while... struggling) i really think it helped

glad you're getting better friend, dont give up and remember that its natural to have shitty days, you'd not appreciate the good ones without them

also; i recommend embrace of the serpent, incredible kino that most people probably wont give a shot due to it being black and white (iykyk), but its definitely worth it

You are nearly as based as abatap! Thanks, by the way, enjoy the bad days aswell, so you can enjoy the good ones aswell! I will check them out, thank you!

If a movie fixes your depression you weren't depressed.

This anon wasn't depressed ever in his live. Feel for your anons, it's not something that is wrong.

      depression is a choice

Trips of fault. And truth. You got a good reply, i give you that.

my friend put this on during the come up of my first ever trip, acid, and I had taken way too much for my first time.
the trip was profound and changed the course of my life but it had nothing to do with the movie.
We were watching it during the first 2 or 3 hours though but I was still completely out of my mind by then.
movie made me really uncomfortable, especially the part with the clay face guy
to me it was just like a horror movie but I was actually terrified for the first time ever watching media.
my friend really liked it but I eventually decided to stop watching and go stare at the wall or something

The clay face is necessary to bring you out of your comfort zone anon. You shouldn't do it on acid, do it on shrooms, you will thank me later! 😉

      Big Trouble in Little China.

1 off my friend. And you're right. But still i mean it when i replied there it is okay so say this. We can get in that hole, but we can also get out of it. To staying depressed would be better, but that anon didn't thought of it or wanted to be cynical, however, it is true and still not. Life is funny, give and take. You will never be happy if you don't see both side of the medal. 😉

I took acid when I was younger too, but don't you feel like a fricking idiot now that it's over?

      >the trip was profound and changed the course of my life

Did you really need a drug to do that? It's more likely you just gave yourself a light touch of mental illness. It's not the 60s. Why take some random chemicals you got from some guy? Did you test to make sure it was pure LSD in the first place? Why even take LSD at all?

I had some pretty scary trips when I was younger (im not that old now) but looking back I think it was fricking stupid. It may have "changed my life" for a bit, but now I really think I'm over it. The same I always was. Do something productive next time instead of taking a fricking drug people took in the 60s.

The fact that you regard acid as "some drugs from the 60s" to me indicates you werent mature enough to appreciate the entire multivaried experience that they give people. From the visuals to the changed mindset, psychs are the best, more mysterious substance on this planet.
That sentiment is completely moronic anyway. Mushrooms are very similar to acid and have profound cultural spiritual and religious use by humans going back millenia, and even back in the 60s there were extremely promising clinical data about the use of lsd as an antidepressant, like 20% more effective than the pharmaceuticals they had, and that conclusion is actually still true today with resumed research by institutions like fricking Johns Hopkins
I actually feel sad for your particular brain, because thats a very strange reaction to acid, users of psyches generally have the sentiment that it was one of the top 5 most profound experiences of their life, sentiments which last decades.

          Anonymous

Why do you feel that you need to "change" your mindset? Your fantastical ideas of acid and psychedelics are subjective, at best. Yes, I'm aware that they've been taken by humans ages ago in history but there are lots of things we've done in the past that we don't do now. Why is it so special to you and why do you cite the idea that it can be used as an antidepressant like that's some kind of dealbreaker? I don't believe in taking those either, unless it's a last resort. If you're talking about people who are absolutely fricked in the head and need help, then yeah I guess psychs can be worth looking into. But I thought we were talking about regular anons like you and I, or are you telling me you're mentally ill yourself?

          >users of psyches generally have the sentiment that it was one of the top 5 most profound experiences of their life
I think most people who say that are children. If you asked me 10 years ago I probably would have said something similar. But now I know it didn't really "help" me all that much, it was more of just something to do. I honestly think you're just kind of naive and maybe dumb. Idk, or maybe you're excelling in life right now thanks to hallucinogens. Are you?

I've done a bit of weed, coke and meth in my youth, but never acid or shrooms or any real psychadelics. My experiences as a teen led me to decide never to touch any kind of mind-altering or perspective-broadening stuff.

I don't know anyone who were helped out of depression by drugs but I sure as shit know a bunch of people who were fricked all to hell. Had one friend kill himself during a trip and knew a girl who fell to her death from a window (unknown whether it was intentional suicide or she just wanted to escape the room). A girl in my class had to be institutionalized after some kind of psychotic breakdown during a trip and came back with a completely different personality that seemed to basically have no human empathy at all. One of the smartest guys I ever knew did tons of shrooms and just seemed to turn to mush. Went from this hyper-ambitious, politically engaged dude to a useless sack with a blank stare, like his iq dropped from 130 to about 80.
I'm sure there's medical applications and I wouldn't mind research on the subject, but I'll never take anyone seriously who goes on Cinemaphile to claim psychadelics as some kind of mental health miracle, and I seriously hope very few people take any of the advice that's slung around here.

It was just my primary care physician having me try it most likely because it says that drug helped with OCD. I got a psychiatrist that was recommended but I've had bad results with Lexapro giving me migraines and now clomipramine giving me heart palpitations so I'm starting to think antidepressants are all bad.

Plus I hate not being to drink, I'm not even a heavy drinker I have a few beers on the weekend.

OP here. Since you read my OP post, you know i did some stuff - i still drink. It is okay to do some bad stuff like drinking, aslong as it will be even in the end. Maybe i made this thread to make it even what i'm doing to my body, who knows? I don't think you should punish yourself even more than you allready do or are punished. Everything in moderation. If you want to drink, do it, but also give something back. Maybe you make this kind of thread. Who knows? Look at the jannies, they might want to make something right they don't like in there life but can't get away of it. It's life. It's complicated and also so simple. You should love yourself more and bring that to us! Maybe you make music, share it. Maybe you're good in knowing stuff, /tv or not, share it. Maybe you like to ride a bike; Make pictures and share it with the world. We all suffer, but we can get above this together, that is what humans are made of, to experience it togehter.

Ok thanks maybe I'll check that movie out

The saddest part about the war on drugs was that it completely brought to a halt psychedelic research for decades. Substances we now know to be more therapeutic than pharmaceuticals were not allowed to be studied. Meanwhile people are more depressed than ever. If there ever was a time for a spiritual renaissance it's now

Pharmaceutical companies did more to stop it than the government. It's been legal to study psychedelics in labs for decades. The problem is that those labs would get all their funding cut if they touched it. A lot of the current research is self funded.

Johnny Quid: You see that pack of Virginia killing sticks on the end of the piano?
    Pete: Yes.
Johnny Quid: All you need to know about life is retained in those four walls. You will notice that one of your personalities is seduced by the illusions of grandeur: the gold packet of king-size with a regal insignia, an attractive implication towards glamour and wealth, the subtle suggestion that cigarettes are indeed your royal and loyal friends - and that, Pete, is a lie. Your other personality is trying to draw your attention to the flip side of the discussion: written in boring bold black and white, it's a statement that these neat little soldiers of death are in fact trying to kill you - and that, Pete, is the truth. Oh, beauty is a beguiling call to death and I'm addicted to the sweet pitch of its siren. That that starts sweet ends bitter, and that which starts bitter ends sweet. THAT is why you and I love the drugs and that is also why I cannot give that painting back. Now please, pass me a light.
Pete: Oh, you are something special, Mr. Johnny Quid.

    Satanic trips.
You don't need drugs or psychedelics to access spiritual or other planes and dimensions. Meditation is stronger than all of your shrooms combined. I suggest you read the kybalion as a startup and learn about what you're allowing access to when you decide to go on a "trip". It's not your friend. You're already on a trip, it's called life. Learn to be a proper magi and control your energy consciously instead of these childish distractions that one day will severely hurt you because you have clue what you're doing or accessing.

this, most religions but especially gnostics and the majority of esoteric mystics agree that drugs, especially psychedelics are the primary gateway to dark destructive and chaotic energy

      >already on a trip, it's called life.
A better way to describe instead is life is a road. Your body is the car. Your mind the driver. Drugs and other substances are hitchhikers. Some can be good but most of them are shit.
