I anticipate failed attempts at daily generals that barely crest 100 posts unless they devolve into arguing about the Zionist Agenda™.
The tone of these failed generals will be one of undeserved victory. Not that the show is any good or that people are watching it, but that the woke liberal marxists are triggered. I anticipate anyone that questions this narrative will be Kafka-Trapped into being one of said triggered marxists.

Fun fact this originally started out as a spin off for Adam Carolla's puppet character on Crank Yankers with the same name. Yes Adam Carolla only has 1 idea.

    https://crankyankers.fandom.com/wiki/Dick_Birchum

And he originally pitched this show to Fox in 2011 and they rejected it. Back then it was more of King of the Hill rip off and less Family Guy. It also had less culture war bull shit. It looked boring as frick back then but a lot better than the final product. You can see the leaked 2011 pilot here

Mediocre comedians and commentators get to filter out their critics by becoming political. Works for Bill Maher and Trevor Noah too. Becoming political is almost perfect for a comedian's career: get more claps, get free material from the news so you don't have to be creative, get more money, and get to tell yourself that your "important". It turned Dave Chapelle from the "Rick James" guy into an insufferable gay.

Daily Wire becoming a streaming service is a gamble on trying to nail just one single show that's so popular, even non conservatives will pay a subscription for, so they can watch other content that's more on the propaganda side.
Daily Wire and other conservative media are ran like a secret shadow government. Religious Big Oil quintillionaires pull the strings by funding lots and lots and lots of money to show only what benefits them and their status quo. Remember that sudden tick of "SHAPIRO RAPES COLLEGE LIBERAL WITH FACTS AND LOGIC #4195" at around 2015-2017? There was money was put into that. And there's a reason why those same conservative media groups are coincidentally pro-fossil fuels and deny climate change.
The worst part is that all agegroups are targeted. It's the reason why we have shit like 'PragerU Kids' and are actively trying to push that shit in schools with a official curriculum, with some states actually adding that in.

Disney just recently stopped supporting Ron "Trump is wrong for saying the Pulse shooting was bad" DeSantis. Their politics and values still take a backseat to providing entertainment first, believe it or not, at least comparatively. You can call them liberals, but it's not like those making content are leftwing pundits.

Fixed. Any publicly traded corporation’s values are whatever it thinks will make them the most money. Sometimes they’re wrong about what will, but that’s why they do it.

But they then use their company values to shield themselves from responsibility when things don't work out. That's why it's easier to see it as a shield for execs rather than any genuine effort. To get mad about that though requires you to be cool with it if "wokeness" was their genuine vision so it needs to be demonized from a different angle.

I like this angle because you're framing "leftism" which can include "science" in these debates, as a form of religion. You put Christian faith and dogma on the same level as believing in evolution or the age of the Earth. It's the most postmodern shit ever.

              >I believe that God made the world in a week and said gays should be killed and you're still trying to figure out the validity of string theory and saying that governments should allow adults to marry each other regardless of gender, so we're the same
It's just convenient framing to keep yourself relevant in policy making.

I really hope this gets covered in this show. homosexual leftist cites science mumbo-jumbo he believes in uncritically juxtaposed with more rational, normal people of faith.

why do they act like their audience are fricking idiots/toddlers who need obvious in your face messages and jokes? It's insulting. Comedy works with subtlety and building up stakes. You can't just put a fricking manbun pronoun guy as the main antagonist immediately. It would work better if the school was *slowly* getting wokiefied. Maybe he just notices a request for pronouns on a work email and then asks "what the frick is this" and that creates a seed to build a story and conflict.

I think if conservatives were to embrace some of their negative stereotypes then I'm sure they would receive a slightly warmer reception. As for the large number of stereotypes aimed at them, I don't have the time nor interest at the moment to go in depth for the many examples but a nice baby step would have been to unironically title the show "Mr. Birchud".

For one example of what I'm talking about however, see Lucas from Yolo Crystal Fantasy. I never took part in discussions over the show so I don't know what the consensus over him is but I liked him as a character and he practically embraced every stereotype of the neckbeard/nice guy but in a way that made him human. It was a nice balance between what you would expect out of a "pro-incel" side which would vindicate all of his behavior and the "feminist" side which would portray him as not only a pathetic and lame loser without any redeeming qualities but would also humiliate him at every turn at best or kill him off gruesomely at worst.

These guys don't see themselves as human. They see themselves as superhuman gigachad patriots fighting a woke menace. There's no room in their worldview for humility, much less self-depreciation, which makes up a huge chunk of comedy.

Huey and Lisa have both been shown to be incorrect as the voice of reason in their shows and cartman isn’t the voice of reason in South Park. Kyle and Stan are. Going by your logic in adding him, you should be complaining about Uncke Rickus and Mr Burns than Huey and Lisa who both have been shown to not be 100% correct about stuff in their shows.

Conservatives have always lectured people in film media. It's just that 80s characters were dumb jocks with charisma thanks to the GI Bill funding then into college. Ben Shapiro is one of the few conservatives from the suburbs who move to the South. He's just tolerated cause he's not Kirk Cameron

If they simply got guys like Mark Normand, Dave Attell, Shane Gillis, or anybody who's remotely good at joke writing or storytelling on board, they could literally create the most popular cartoon on the planet. It's not comparable at all.
King of the Hill had nuanced and developed characters. Hank Hill was relatable at times, he could be a jerk and selfish but he struggled with doing the right thing and working with the values of his texan society. You could still have sympathy for him and his struggles.

The main plot of Mr. Birchum vs. the DEI officer antagonist was basically just an I AM SILLY! cartoon with neither of them having much of a character beyond that. The B-plot of his autistic wood obsessed daughter sabotaging his wife's real estate sale because she didn't like that she painted a fireplace was just fricking bizarre and I don't know what the message was there (women shouldn't try to have careers? The e-girl prefers brown wood to white?). The Family Guy cutaway gags were shit. It might actually have substance beyond politics. Adam Carolla is (or was, haven't watched him since Man Show days) a funny guy, and he came up with the Birchum character a long time ago. Used him on Crank Yankers and stuff. So the character and idea wasn't just made to be a political point, it existed before Daily Wire. Maybe he actually has some funny ideas and they'll make a halfway decent but generic adult cartoon sitcom out of it. Just looking at it you can tell it's not going to be amazing, but the competition is so bad it might be somewhat good.

People are too obsessed with politics nowadays. You might say "No, anon! It's great that people are more involved! It's important for democracy!" But most people aren't actually more interested in learning about any issue or looking at something carefully. You just get more masses of morons arguing aggressively over things they don't understand (this goes beyond political topics). Before it was easier to make friends with people with opposite political views, because they largely kept it to themselves. Now the internet has radicalized everybody and it feels like everybody wants to be an activist.

Don't you get that, whatever point you're trying to make, starts from a whole different premise---regarding onthology---from that of the guy you're communicating with? It's question begging. Of course someone can think that it's imperative for kids to say and wholeheartly believe that their's is "one nation under God" because it is morally correct. You can answer that with all the "nuh-uhs" you wan't, but you ain't making a point; you're just repeating an assertion you, for some reason, see as obviously true, instead of trying to explain---in a compelling manner---why it is true to begin with.

This is why discussions through the Internet are so pointless and mind-numbing: people think that saying stuff like "oh, so you think [position I hold as correct] is wrong? then, what about [position my rivals hold as correct]? do you think that's correct?" is making a compelling argument, just because people are, apparently, unable to imagine that other people may have a different view regarding the same topic, and that simply stressing a contrary opinion as if it was obviously wrong is anything but pointless.

You framing these politics as just "will of man vs will of God" is appropriate considering that monarchists were the rightwing. Calling that gnosticism though imposes a form of dogma on the left, gives them a framework of thought that you see as contrarian as if "natural order y/n" has been relevant. Your framing works to call rent seeking behavior a natural order issue, it's a new noble lie.

Black men are made to be rapists because people fear the idea of other men as being sexual and strong and black women are huge dumb bawd succubusses who are always in heat and need to have sex because of course racists men are still horny but have to rationalise it with mental gymnastics when they feel sexually attracted to people they hate.

What did King of the Hill do right that Birchum didn't?

      Anonymous

For starters, Hank's not a misanthrope who hates anyone. He just tries to navigate comfortable mediocrity through his family and good friends. Richard hates his wife and son for finding success and just falls back to bullying his students that he barely respects, but we're still expected to root for him because conservative reasons.

Two: Conservatives cannot do family comedy because they lack experience as cartoonists, writers, and possible life experience. Mike Judge had already submitted projects to MTV before pitching King of the Hill to Fox. Nobody's heard of anything Shapiro's done outside of Youtube and Twitter, cartooning wise. Maybe they've heard of Adam Carolla, but nobody's heard of what he's been doing past The Man Show or Drawn Together, and he's already disowned the latter. Judge at least made himself known outside of Beavis & Butthead on shows like Conan O'Brien and Cartoon Network. Even the supposedly alt-right Zach Hadel put himself out there away from the Newgrounds den and made connections. What's Ben so afraid of?

Three: KotH has a cast of actors. Birchum just has washed up journalists from Fox News and right-leaning actors (Carolla, Warburton, Roseanne, James Arnold Taylor). At least the KotH side is relatively scandal free.

Okay, maybe that last one's too hard on people who aren't Adam, Patrick, and JAT, but they should at least let people know what kind of show they're promoting.

        Anonymous

Another key point is that Hank is occasionally allowed to be wrong and learn a lesson. That's not really something that can happen here because the entire point is that the guys making it think they're right and the entire rest of the world is wrong.

I feel like they almost did that at the end of the first episode with Mr. Birchum having berated his son for being a no-life NEET who spends all his time playing vidya and won’t get a girlfriend, only to find out he actually has got a hot girlfriend who is also into gaming. But first of all it’s kind of unrealistic and second, Birchum never actually admits he was wrong.

Shapiro is a failed screenwriter so yeah.
The reason they start all these failed conservative entertainment enterprises (besides the obvious, propaganda) is because none of them could crack it in the real world. They are all bitter failures. The exception being some of the voice actors who are just in it for a paycheck.

Not defending them but Hollywood stoped being a place were meritocracy got you somewhere for a long while. Just look at Disney.

Even if it was a meritocracy, they would never break in because all they make is shit like Mr. Birchum.

This series wouldn't even exist if Hollywood was meritocratic, tho.

This series only exists because a right wing platform is desperate for content and will grab any rejected multiple times project they can buy on the cheap

It wasn’t driven by politics. The only reason this was made is because Carolla is a butthurt conservative and Daily Wire needs content for their butthurt media for their streaming platform.

They're so lame though. Also the rips don't have subtitles.

I'm only two episodes in, but I can already see that they frontloaded the offensive parts so they can say "ha stupid libs didn't give the show a chance it's actually wholesome chungus about how everyone can get along despite political differences". Meanwhile all the so called 'offensive jokes' are just bullying. Like actual bullying, basically the equivalent of shouting "homosexual" at a kid in your class and laughing while he tears up.

They can’t really be offensive because they’ll lose followers. They don’t know how to tell off-color jokes without it coming off as being bigoted or mean.

    Turns out it means "shit."

A scene with a guy talking about pushing "The Agenda™" is not exactly peak storytelling.
It's even worse if you don't have the ™.

Hell at least Paradise PD got some reaction out of me with its over the top grossout humor.
This got nothing out of me, a genuine waste of time.

I'd argue Paradise PD's serialized nature gives it a slight edge over Brickleberry. Then things started to get fricky around the 4th season, but it's to be expected when you don't take yourself seriously.

for a comedy show to be decent it also hs to be somewhat self deprecating to be relatable to its audience. our vulnerabilities are sad but seen from outside they can also be hilarious. otherwise it's just some unrelatable butthole making fun of others and yelling constantly they are the normal ones.

this show of vulnerability is at odds with conservatism because conservatism is a constant show of force trying to demonstrate its opponents are weak and that they are strong.

Brickleberry is funny compared to this, because it has more than one joke.
