It was absolutely horrendous. I have no clue why people pretend to like this movie... oh right, because there's a guy dressed as a woman. Much progress.

From what I've seen the men in drag reading to kids today aren't wearing modest clothing like Mrs. Doubtfire.

I don’t have a problem with drag queens doing their thing. They’re like a different form of clowns. I just wonder why people are so insistent that children be exposed to this clearly adult form of entertainment.

even if it's still relevant today, they were still different times.
gender non-conformity wasn't as controversial and politically polarized back then.
a movie like this probably wouldn't even be greenlit today

Robin Williams' character was completely gender conforming that's why it wasn't controversial. He wasn't a literal troon and didn't dress up as a woman to sate some kind of mental illness.

Cross dressing is fine. No one really cares about that. Transgender on the other hand is mental illness on the level of schizophrenia.

they're not much different than twinks
if you think they're just guys pretending to be girls or vice versa, it doesn't matter much
often you can't tell either way until you ask.

I said they're regular people, not that they're regular men/women

          trannies don't even say they're regular women/men.
that's why the terms trans women and cis women exist, to differentiate the two.
trannies don't deny the existence of biological sex. that's a strawman that rightoids insist they believe, because they themselves can't acknowledge that there's a difference between sex and gender

just like there's terms to differentiate between birth parents and adoptive parents, and step parents. I don't say an adoptive mother is not a real mother. maybe a different kind of mother, but still a mother.

Everyone can tell. Not a single troon, be they women LARPing as men or men LARPing as women, passes. At best you have people who, when they aren't around, others ask each other what they really are.

    This is Dame Edna Everage.
Dame Edna was actually a bloke named Barry Humphries.

The only people who disliked or had issues with Humphries and Dame Edna were Latinos who couldn't understand satire and trannies who hate the fact that Humphries openly referring to gender affirmation surgery as "self-mutilation" and said that transgender is a "fashion; how many different kinds of lavatory can you have? And it’s pretty evil when it’s preached to children by crazy teachers."

Dame Edna's Neighbourhood Watch was kino. Premise of the show was that she would go live into a random person's house and nose around it (worked because Barry Humphries was really sharp at improv)

      >go into a person's house
      >check out their bathroom
      >point the camera into their toilet to see how clean it is
      >there is a huge turd inside

Apparently he felt really bad about that and didn't want to embarrass them like that.

Also, wonder how many people know he voice pic related

Yeah no one cared about crossdressers when they were genuinely just satirical pantomime dressed like old ladies.

Now they're prancing around in stripper heels and thongs and giant cone breasts wearing full-on prostitute makeup and calling themselves Juanita Gangbang and Conchita Schlong with a dragon dildo stuffed into their underwear.

In many ways it was, but the plot is different from what is made today:
    >Mrs Doubtfire was a method for the Dad to get close to this kids, he was still straight, to him it was a means
    >yes it ends with him in "drag" reading to children, but he is in drag as an elderly woman, not some troon abomination, and there are no hidden messages of sex change or shit like that.
That he was in drag was not THE plot, the PLOT was he was cut off from this children and needed a way to get close to them. Being in "drag" was one method.

Men in drag is a theatre tradition too. It used to be that women couldn't be actors, it was only reserved to men, so men took on female roles. Actors were treated like fricking shit too.

Just a reminder for anyone that ever gets involved in a "ACTUALLY the mother did nothing wrong!" hot take

    >she divorced him because he refused to sell cigarettes to kids
    >she paid no alimony to him and didn't divide up the house's equity, forcing him to rent a tiny apartment in a slum whilst she lived in a giant mansion of a house
    >she then argued in court (with the far better lawyers she could afford) that as he had no money (due to no alimony) he wasn't a responsible father and couldn't be trusted with the kids
    >she didn't take his parental rights seriously, dropping the kids off late and picking them up early.

if this was your takeaway then you didn't understand the movie
it was a humorous premise, but it wasn't played off as a joke.
daniel learned how to be a better parent and a better person overall by adopting the mrs doubtfire persona
because he had never even tried to be caring or nurturing before
he just wanted to be a cool fun dad, even if that wasn't the best thing to be for his kids
adhering to strict gender roles makes you a worse parent
you need to be caring but also strict, depending on the situation. You need to be both.
