Sketch shows are weird because they often have cast members way funnier than their material.
Also while MadTV had some great bits that were better than SNL stuff, it also had complete gutter trash way worse than SNL stuff. SNL was just kinda forgettable in the late 90s/early 00s when MadTV was on
