Much more relatable than Hey Arnold

I wouldn’t mind a Doug revival, I miss this underrated show. Hey Arnold is classic but I can’t tolerate it as an adult and cringe most of the time. Doug on the other hand has such a relaxed vibe and smarter humor. Also how can anyone hate Mr Dink?

    >It’s my ten-year reunion, and I didn’t go. I was in New York working like crazy as a freelancer and just trying to make it there. And I got a phone call in New York and it’s Patti. The real Patti. And my heart’s beating fast. She’s like, ‘I was at the reunion! You weren’t!’ and I was like, ‘Yeah…sorry…I had to work.’ And she goes, ‘I found out you live in New York. Guess what—I do, too!’ And she told me where she lives. We lived across Central Park from each other. And she says, ‘Why don’t you come over for dinner?’
    >So now we’re in a Doug show. I’m like, what do I wear? What will she look like!? All that’s happening as I’m walking across Central Park to her apartment, just wondering and just hoping, all those things. I was, at the time, very available.
    >I get to the door, and you get buzzed up in New York, and so I walk up to the apartment and I hear the lock turn—it’s getting ready to happen—and she opens the door, and she’s perfect. Just perfect. She just looks spectacular and she’s so happy, and her arms fly up and we hug, and I’m just like [frightened guttural gasping noises]. She backs up and she goes ‘Look, Jimmy! Boobs! I got my boobs!’ [Laughs.] It sounds like I’m making this up, right? And I’m like, ‘Yeah… yeah, uh huh!’ ‘Yeah, they always used to call me Flatty Patti, but look!’ And she was just funny and fun and innocent, but it’s like Doug and Patti together again, ten years later, right?
    >So this is all wonderful, right? And then she wheels and goes, ‘Oh, Jimmy, I want you to meet my husband.’
    >And I don’t even remember the rest of the evening.

Yeah Doug wasn't working for me as a kid either, having a diary was so gay to me. But that's my boy mindset. Rocco's Modern Life was good, Ren and Stimpy was top of the line.

Doug had a bit cringe mostly for his oneitis with Patty.
        Arnold was way too altruistic.

    >there are 101 episodes of the original Nickelodeon Doug
Holy shit I thought I saw them all but that makes me wonder if I missed any that weren't aired as much. I barely watched the ABC Doug and didn't even see the movie, are they worth a watch?

Nick has always had a horrible schedule with their shows. They never gave shows a conclusion so kids wouldn't know repeats are on all the time. They only show Christmas and Halloween episodes during the holidays too, it still happens with every cartoon.
ABC Doug changed quite a bit. They're at a new school and I remember they added a new character that makes Doug even more jealous over Patti and Roger's mom getting rich.

Frick Doug and other shows for normalizing pining after their dream girl their whole childhood and ignoring other chicks they could actually have gotten with, until they end up an adult with no experience.

This. Horrible life lesson. I oneitised from 4th to 9th grade, with nothing close to a Doug-Patti relationship. The thing to snap me out of it was her fricking a guy I used to be friends with who was a total butthole. She became repulsive instantly, and it was like waking up. Got a gf before graduating and blowjobs. Big confidence builder going into college.
Frick Doug, don’t obsess over one girl.

Doug reflects a large part of the creator's life.
I remember someone posted one of his blog posts that while the show was on the air he met up the girl Patti was based on for the first time since high school or whenever.
He ended up depressed as he never got over her and still had feelings for her but was married.

In the last episode of the Nickelodeon show, the first segment was about their graduation and the second segment was about Doug's family going on vacation to the Grand Canyon.

Well then there was the ABC series which ended with a movie where they find an actual nematode and they're hiding it like E.T.

You're probably a lorebabby. Before ~2010 it was extraordinarily rare for a cartoon to have a defined ending to its story. Networks hated that because it messes with syndication possibilities. Virtually every cartoon would just have a normal episode be its last and that was that.

I remember the thread(s) of the guy's life/blog being posted and he was/is actually that pathetic in real life and it's just revolting honestly. It did make some good threads of anons writing more and more funny/unhinged greentexts as Doug's diary entries though. But damn imagine wasting your whole life like that over some random fricking chick that made your weiner twitch when you were 14.
