Mucha Lucha

>Made by Australian and Asian person
>Becomes widely popular in LatAm
>Actually understands LatAm culture
>Years later, Oye show flops and LatAm makes fun of it
This isn't even adding the whole Speedy Gonzalez thing where we actually liked it and others decided on our behalf it was offensive. What went wrong? CN and Nick cartoons were incredibly popular here back in the day.

One is entertaining with fantastical out of the ordinary scenarios in the world renowned international school of masked wrestling and lucharaan

The other is about the day to day life of living with cousins and the stuggles that come with that, but with the protagonists apparent skill of using her imagination to solve overcome these challenges, she and her cousins can get though day to day life.

What about Texan Chicanos? Ngl id love to watch a cartoon with takuaches and rancheros fooling around in big trucks

Haven't met any, I just know that Oye Primos is very focused around the community of Cali instead of anywhere actually south of the border. I do imagine Texan Chicanos have more in common with their southern brethren than they do with the guys in Cali though.

Chicanos of today are basically the Italians of the 1930s-50s. Their parents speak the language and are often from the home country, but they typically are just American outside of maintaining some cultural elements, having a sort of bastardized understanding of their parents' language, and keeping a notable accent.

Apparently there's a term for them, "no sabos" as in "no sabo español"

            Anonymous

Yeah that's a thing here. It's a joke on how Mexican Americans say "no sabos" which is wrong since it's "no sé" so "no sabos" is the nickname. I think it's stupid since you can't expect everyone to know Spanish 100% if you're born and raised in America but people in both countries are usually just trying to find shit to get a foot over others about.

There are plenty of Mexican-Americans who are legit, but they're people who speaking Spanish as their first language, still have family in Mexico that they visit, and watch Mexican channels on TV. These are the guys who do your roofing or run the best tasting restaurant in the area. Full-blown chicanos are the ones who look down on actual Mexicans, don't visit Mexico or the other countries because they're "unsafe," grew up in white neighbourhoods with white schools speaking English, and only care about their "heritage" if they can grift from it. These are the guys who try to get white collar jobs and eat at Taco Bell.

That australian and asian actually had mexican friends helping them, they got a real mexican band to do the hypest opening possible

as the other anon said mucha lucha is mexican focused

meanwhile "oye primos" is all chicano shit oye primos should be sold to chicanos only the moment you show it to anyone from latin america is gonna feel like an insult because everything chicanos do is a twisted version of latam culture

    >LatAm culture
Only other place in Latin America with a culture of lucha libre is Puerto Rico, which is a) a lot more alike to regular pro wrestling than Mexican lucha and b) part of the US. Chile has a little bit of independent wrestling starting to take roots, but it's hardly a cultural touchstone. For the vast, VAST majority of Latin America, lucha is that thing from that one Jack Black movie and wrestling is "fake fights dumb gringos think are real."

    >Speedy Gonzalez
I find funny how the last Looney Tunes show that was supossed to be a "throwback" to the original shorts excluded Pepe and Speedy entirely so by the end the series was almost nothing but Bugs Bunny, Daffy and Porky spam lacking the variety of the original
