I knew Mucha Lucha was popular, but Kids Next Door too? Dang, Mexicans have good taste.

Chicos de Barrio is a band from Torreón (a city in the mexican state of Coahuila) who compossed and performed the Mucha Lucha theme.

That said, Chicos del Barrio/Kids Next Door IS very popular in Mexico and LatAm, the 10/10 dub work helped a lot, the comedy was culturally translated seamlessly. And let's be real, it's source English version was already amazing, it was a slamdunk of a cartoon.

I am. I was surprised myself. I can respect them trying to go for the other extreme in teens, where they actually still look like kids and not young 20 year olds playing freshmen, but particularly the episodes where they hung out with the older teens it came across less of younger teens hanging with them and more little kids trying to hang with the big kids.

Part of me wishes I was born earlier so I could have been part of that early wild west of digital animation before everything became standardized. Good things came from standardizing, but like with video games, having everyone use the same software/engine homogenizes a lot of it.

I barely remember this show. Did every character have some sort of power related to their lucha persona, or not? I remember Rikochet could turn into a ball, but literally nothing else.

Also, the flea kid had the best outfit.

The animation has not aged great but it's understandable because it's not just a tv flash cartoon from 2002, it was the first

Is this the single most Mexican scene in an American cartoon? I wonder if people born after 1990 remember who these two are. I grew with this because my dad loved those movies but never heard anyone my age talk about them.
