It's annoying seeing everything cynically following a trend. Plus lazy writers will try using it as a crutch, thinking merely having a multiverse is interesting enough in and of itself that they don't have to actually do anything with it.
What do you have to do with it? A story about multiple completely different versions of a character coming together to beat a crazy powerful enemy is inherently fun.
It's interesting when it actually explores alternate possibilities. It's lame when it just copies the same character with undeveloped reskins a hundred times.

Which inevitably leads to consumer exhaustion and the floor falling it. See video games with all the live-service Destiny wannabes. It's Fidget Spinners, just on a larger scale.
I know nothing about 3d animation so how does one guy animate something like that? it can't be done by hand and a motion capture suit is too expensive
