The Ken arc alone was enough to make Barbie top kino. But it was also visually stunning and technically solid.

Yep. I don't think I have ever seen such a mass filtering as Beau Is Afraid and Asteroid City. This board truly is filled with plebs.

Yes. Even more so with Asteroid City because Beau has set pieces that throw a bone to more shallow viewers and some incels also identify at least partially with the main character's shut-in lifestyle.
W/ AC, there's a complexity of feeling and narrative that exasperates some smoothbrains. Also references which they can't grasp etc

Definitely. Even I was at times partially filtered by Asteroid City but I still marveled in its spectacle and majesty.

The key to Asteroid City is that it's an emotional movie. Some of it is expressed tacitly and/or ironically but without any cynicism or jadedness. The ending w the roadrunner dancing + music has an existential sweetness to it. And narratively it steps beyond linear narratives without losing any sight of the stories it tells.

I don't need to understand everything in films, most of the time I just enjoy the ride especially if they're visually interesting and technically sound.Asteroid City was awesome.

Kubrick himself said than imparting a type of emotional/sensorial impact is more important than the narrative (both coexist, but feeling and atmosphere are valuable in themselves)

N64 THQ grapplers were the best fricking games. Holy shit. Each one an absolute generational leap, thinking especially about the first WCW title to Revenge and then once again to the WWE titles. The only thing about the games that I will never ever understand is why the games allowed you to auto-kick out if you moved the stick. You had to watch your friends to make sure they weren't cheesing you, and there was something so compelling about how easy it was to cheese. You learned who your friends were, or you learned who'd get sneaky after a couple lukewarm Coors smuggled into a teenage room.

        >why the games allowed you to auto-kick out if you moved the stick
Didn't the stick control character movement and if someone moves away from the pin in any direction, doesn't it allow the opponent to kick out easily?

        >cheesing... easy it was to cheese
        What?
