    it was dumb
lister is this gross loser that lusted for her from a distance. I don't know why they chanced that and tried to make him have an actual romance arc it was just weird
early red dwarf where they're just hanging out in lister and rimmer's room occasionally going on adventures through the derelict ship in an otherwise empty and dead universe were comfy

Rob Grant left the show. He was clearly the tard wrangler preventing Doug Naylor from doing anything too stupid.

It needed a shake up. Either that or end it.

Rimmer finally growing a spine and being the hero for once should have been the ending.

Yeah that was a lame change. The point was that she ignored dave because he was a loser.
Her character on the show was fine even though I assume fans hated her being part of the main cast.

Playing the doubles advocate, even as far back as stasis leak they were showing it wasn’t entirely hopeless

She was friendly with Dave. He was likable but also a gross loser
I got the vibe that she MIGHT like Dave if he cleaned up his life and took things seriously.

            >I got the vibe that she MIGHT like Dave if he cleaned up his life and took things seriously
Isn't that exactly what happened in one of the time travel episodes? She was dating a future Lister that wasn't a loser or something.

I wonder if they were planning on the show having a real ending early on.
Just have Dave mature and becoming a hero and then going back in time and getting with Kochanski and that would be the ending of the series.
But it turned out to be popular so basically Dave just had to always act like a gross loser since its funnier.

Yeah, he was dead like Rimmer, so Dave was the one brought back as a hologram instead. Kochanski got busted hiding Frankenstein for him, so she was the one put into stasis. Since he couldn't touch shit, he had to smarten himself up and learn to really engage with her. He eventually won her over.
Also, I doubt holograms have the same ability to smell as bad as his meatself, so that probably didn't hurt.

She’s far more likeable and charming in interviews about the show than they let her be in the actual show. Not her fault, really. 7, 8, and Back to Earth was the worst stretch. Met her at a con a few years ago and she’s still pretty.

it's obviously not anywhere close to peak dwarf but i quite enjoy series 8
the running joke that they keep getting sent back to the captain's office is more in line with a show like hogan's heroes or something but was funny anyway

There are little things in there that I like, such as the prison cell stuff meaning they were doing Rimmer and Lister bunk chat scenes again, but overall it just wasn’t for me. As with 7 something about the tone just felt off

Back to Earth was painful viewing. That shit was so bad I'm surprised Dave comissioned series 10.

Yeah, I went in hoping for the best but all the ‘real world’ stuff like the Corrie set was just agonising. And all the Blade Runner stuff, like that was ever one of the big influences on the show in the first place. The emotional bit between Lister and Kochanski was done reasonably well; Craig had gotten a lot stronger as an actor. The Dave stuff that followed wasn’t peak Dwarf but it felt like they eventually got back into a groove, especially when they did two series at once

Those last three series it seems like Naylor remembered what made Dwarf good in the first place: Blokes in space going on adventures.

it's funny how the main audience of red dwarf doesn't like the episodes as much where they interact with real historical figures like the jesus one, the wax doll caligula one, the jfk one, etc but i watched a few reaction videos of girls watching red dwarf and they love these
    women just love to larp

Only real issue with it was at the start of that episode they resolved the series six cliffhanger by saying someone couldn’t be killed by their future self. But aside from that it’s good, and probably the high point of series seven overall

All fairness, that is some paradoxical shit.
Still, if anyone is watching Red Dwarf and getting ass aches over the science of the series, they can frick off to Dr. Who.

It's not even Dave's Kochanski. She was from a parallel universe who gets stuck in Dave's universe. She gets written out by saying she got tired of Dave and just left him.
Probably should have said she got back to her own universe

He's Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer. Without him life would be much grimmer. He's handsome, trim, and no-one slimmer. He will never need a zimmer.
