Unleashed is so entertainingly moronic
It's literally "what if a Pitbull was a human?" and then they let him fight for his life
It's fun all the way through
Bob Hoskins gives the performance of his life in this as a wienerney Penguin from Batman type. He is intoxicating to watch. Steals every scene he’s in.
Shame there's no decent blu-ray coz chinese film studios are incapable of preserving their shit properly.
That's the joke.
Jet Li was the closest we got to a true successor of Bruce Lee.
Technically, Jackie is too, but he has his own style that is comedic. Jet was always serious in his roles like Bruce. I just wish Jet was in better movies.
The fact that no one made a spiritual successor to Enter the Dragon with him is such a shame.
Jet and Jacki's movies are all 10000 times better than anything bruce was in. Bruce was a great martial artists but all his movies are shit.
Many people fail to understand how groundbreaking Bruce Lee's movies were. In some sense, he was the ancestor of all modern film fighting. Before Bruce, hand to hand combat was not a big part of a film. Lee changed the whole game in a big way by bringing the immense technical skill to the movies. After Lee, hand to hand combat became a stable of MOST good-vs-bad films.
Danny the Dog is unironically his best film. It wears its heart on its sleeve, great pacing and super fun story.
Fist of Legend is his best choreography-wise, but it’s such hilariously blatant pro-Chinese anti-Japanese propaganda that it borders on unintentional satire.
The One is stupid as hell but it’s so hilarious you just gotta watch it at least once.

Once Upon A Time In China is the classic chinese folk heroes vs evil foreigners in the opium wars period. The first two are kino and soulful, anyone who likes kungfu movies should watch them. Part 3 is a step down and kind of weird because it all takes place during a dragon dance festival for national honour. Part 4 and 5 have a different guy taking the role of Jet Li and are forgettable with disappointing fight scenes. Jet Li comes back though in part 6, Once Upon A Time In China And America where the characters go to the wild west and fight savage indians, worth watching for the racism alone
There's a hong kong movie made by this guy who had previously made a movie with Jackie Chan. Apparantly he hated working with Jackie Chan, so he made this movie, where a character very obviously based on Jackie Chan is portrayed as a complete moron and coward who fakes everything. Jet Li is his stunt double who is the actual badass, and they end up in basically Die Hard. It's actually a really cool action comedy with some really impressive action scenes
>Apparantly he hated working with Jackie Chan
I heard it's because he got butthurt when Jackie Chan badmouthed the movie later. It was City Hunter, by the way.
Well the movie is way more... whacky.. than his other hong kong flicks
To be clear, all of his peak era movies are basically slapstick action comedies, but City Hunter takes it further. It's... hard to describe, it's just a normal movie of his, but turned up to 11. Most scenes are him trying to bang/being yelled at by 3 bimbo women who shriek constantly. It's great
black mask

Donnie Yen has far more technical skill than Bruce. You mean that Jet Li carries the philosophical bent of the films.
Are the Once Upon a Time in China movies worth it? What even are they? There are like 6 movies in this franchise

The fight with the brothers is kino of the highest order. The Inspector made for a great villain as well.
Tchéky Karyo was in top form as a villain
I'll name three.

Yeah might've been. I actually really liked City Hunter. I read that Jackie Chan didn't like it but I thought it was hilarious
Why didn’t he like it? Because Jackie did drag and dressed up like Chun-Li lmao
Can’t be a humiliation ritual when you’re Jackie Chan and the biggest action star in the country and can say yes or no to whatever you want lol
Well the movie is way more... whacky.. than his other hong kong flicks

Jackie Chan says he wasn't fond of rush hour as well. But apparently it didn't stop him from inviting and hanging out with Chris tucker in China
isn't this the chick that directed Past Lives?
Unleashed is pretty good.
