Gon is probably one of the best shonen protags when compared to the other notable weebshits.
Rewatched it during lockdown as an adult now. Quite endearing at parts, particular scenes had me looking back at school nostalgically especially the examination part and the what happens next in life. Never took to those moments when I was a kid watching it while in school.
That scene was also censored in 99 too though not the same way. I watched 99 and 11 end of last year at the same time (watched till one plot point on one, then watched the other till it got one episode further than the other, measuring out the filler) and they are both good for different reasons.
this fight you can really tell how the 2011 version was intended for the typical mentally stunted weeb. They turned uvogin's death into a generic shonen anime with the le epic death scene. Contrast this to the 1999 where it was about kurapika's personal struggles. When uvogin died the focus was immediately on how kurapika was going to handle his first kill and his reaction to exacting some form of revenge. No cringe guitar riffs no cringe forced soul badassery.
okay but at least pick the objectively better version, you know the one that wasnt specifically marketed to children with the bright lights and colours, goofy body proportions, heavy expositions, cutesy music and... recap episodes so early in the series
>declining birth rates >birthplace of the hikikomori >yen on the dumpster >wildly popular in Japan
youre not really selling your favourite cartoons very well
What are some relatively modern animes that would be good for someone who liked demon slayer and jujutsu kaisen? I remember watching bleach back in school and thought it was sick, I love big power creeps in characters
I got to the bit where they're trying to get to the house where that white haired lad is being held captive and they have to fight some girl dressed up as a maid. It was then I realised this was a pile of shit. Neon Genesis is shit too

nah the 1999 version has soul while the 2011 one is soulless
in the 2011 version he just holds a bag instead of crushing his heart

It's really worth it, there is a reason it's still wildly popular in Japan and still going after about 30 years.
