I'm fricking serious. What's the point of spending $20 to spend two hours crammed with people who never shut the frick up or get off their phones when you can stream a month's worth of movies for half that?

>$20
My movie theater costs $9
mine's 6 on tuesday, going tomorrow
I can't even remember the last time I went to a theater. It had to be more than 5 years ago.
I never go but I pretend I do so that my coworkers think I have a life
God forbid they ever learn that I’ve been sneed posting on my weekends for the better part of 5 years
There isn't. I think they should just allow people to talk during a movie because clearly if you go to a theater you're only doing it because of the other people in there, not the movie. Also they should allow people to play porn and youtube clips on the big screen during the movie.
that could actually be fun if everyone could screencast for like 10 seconds but with a 10 minute cooldown or something, could make for some humorous interjections

Many movies are just meant to be seen at that scale. You cant appreciate the cinematography set design etc on a little tv
Tell your local manager to have a more liberal no tolerance policy to shitty behavior
Some films you want to see with a big screen and surround sound. My TV at home is only 50 inches with middle range speakers.
The possibility of sexual intercourse.
How is that possible when you go alone?
nice
One time I went to the movies by myself in a mostly empty theater and two girls moved up an aisle to sit next to me and tell me I’m cute. I’m a homosexual though so I ignored them and they went back up to their seats but I probably could’ve scored if I didn’t sperg out
Better sound than you could ever hope to have at home... also stop going to the movies in the wrong neighborhood.
This. Kinoplexes are still a decent experience if you live in a white area.
I've worked at one for years and I can't recommend you come to them at this point. It is too expensive for what you get.
I only go for imax or on tuesday when its 6 bucks. You can also solve the people issue if you go a month after the movie is released.
Tuesdays are still too busy because of those discounts. Just do Monday afternoons.
I live in a metro area of about 6 million people. I saw the new mission impossible the tuesday after release. There were 4 people including me and my friend at the 3:30 showing. I think the online booking fee and membership filters a lot of people for tuesday discounts?
Boomers like Tom Cruise go on and on about the magic of cinema when all it is is just a bigger screen with louder sound
I still go because I don't have a hundred foot sized screen in my house with dolby sound
>Local Cinema has tix for 5 bucks
>Food and drink for like 7
You should go to a theatre that has reclining leather seats. It makes it all the better.
At one point, sure. Low res CRT tvs were small and shit with shitty sound.
Now it's easy to get a 60" TV with a soundbar.
Theaters are for NPCs, literally THE litmus test for whether a person is a conscious being or just a brainwashed slave going through the motions.
Don't go to the theater, do not tip, do not pay real estate agents a percentage.
>60" TV with a soundbar
Oh whoopdie doo.
>with a soundbar
It was shit bait
Booking seats is bullshit.
It's the opposite for me. I hate how unengaging boomers made the movie theatres with their total silence policy. The movie theatres is a blast when the audience is making jokes and everyone goes wild at kino moments.
Pic related was the last to do it properly for me.
If I wanted to sit in total silence, I would just rent the movie for 2 bucks on Redbox and watch it in ,y room.
