Why do openly gay guys like these make such feminine poses in photos? Are they trying to imitate pics of girls on a night out?

The TV licence fee isn't a tax. You aren't forced to pay it, and a lot of people refuse even with a television receiving live broadcasts. It has nothing to do with HMRC. TV licencing is "enforced" by a private company hired out by the BBC, and all they can do is send a bunch of threatening letters that goad gullible people back into paying it.
It's moronic, yes, but it's not a tax.

Just so you guys know, I am an extremely gay femme and would never pull some shit like this. This isn't "gay", it's a flanderization. This guy is making a ridiculous spectacle of himself and using "coming out" as a pretense.

Social media and its consequences. It's not enough to just be a flamboyant gay man, because there are millions of them sharing their experiences 24/7. So you have to be flamingly flamboyant to stand out.

It makes me wonder how gay someone like this even actually is. Harry Styles has made gaybaiting very in vogue so it wouldn't be crazy for a bicurious guy to lean into it for woke brownie points. But obviously it's all for naught if you aren't attracting as much attention to yourself as possible.

I'm wary of anyone who chooses to identify as queer for that reason. The nebulousness of the term is the very point of it. How do you know someone isn't gay? Their dating history doesn't match up. How do you disprove someone is queer? You can't, because the term doesn't actually mean anything. People act like it's synonymous with gay, but it isn't

Very true, I actually blanked on him coming out as "queer" instead of just "coming out" because I was distracted by the displays in OP's pic. I think when meant sincerely and in good faith "queer" could be said to look like Emma D'Arcy, someone who feels non-binary and chooses to outwardly express themselves that way, which I guess is a nuanced differentiation from simply bi. But it's a very diaphanous concept for sure and leaves plenty of room for bad faith actors to keep fricking women while stealing gay valor.

              Anonymous

So what's the difference between Emma D'Arcy being "nonbinary" and you being an "extremely gay femme"? Couldn't she also just call herself gay and be done!

I'm personally just not interested in overcomplicating things. Being gay is already difficult enough and uncomfortable for many people, I think if you're going to make it even more difficult you had better have a damn good reason. So even though you could say my situation is the male equivalent of Emma's and I present very effeminately and live essentially as a woman, it doesn't matter enough to me personally to literally demand people change the way they refer to me. It's honestly a sort of bourgeois leisure activity to come up with new ways to be as different as possible. When coming out has real consequences and costs family etc you're more likely to be a lot more grounded about it. But I'm also not going to insist that someone like Emma is only being frivolous by identifying the ways that she does. When you yourself live an alternative lifestyle it opens your mind and you're sympathetic to other stripes of people who feel compelled to live authentically too. For me though, gay sufficiently covers it.

There are so many same sex attracted men who ended up marrying women anyway. So does a person have to make gayness the center of their life to be gay? It seems smart to just say queer if otherwise they'll be scrutinized for not being gay enough even though they're obviously not straight normative or whatever.

The frick does that even mean? We already knew you were gay, so what significance is coming out as "queer" supposed to hold on top of that?

Russell T Davies got utterly mindbroken by Trump and Brexit and now he's obsessed with making stuff like this front and centre of his work.
(Well, he was obsessed with it before then too but at least in the 2000s he actually prioritised writing storylines ahead of it)
It's going to be funny when casual viewers come back just to watch Tennant then the line immediately goes down once he leaves. The BBC should have cancelled Who years ago but for some reason they're keeping it alive in this half-dead state.
