I like the concept of humans creating a system to keep themselves in eternal bliss. They are born in and live in pods to act as fuel sources for this system, and their entire lives they are dreaming of living in a beautiful Utopia. No limits to resources, no restrictions on travel, they can eat whatever and frick whoever. After a certain point, their usefulness is gone and they die irl.
Was what you said the origin of that system? Or is what I'm saying from some other scifi story.
The movie makes the specific point that the matrix isn't utopia and if it was, people would start to lose it and rebel.

The whole point of the Matrix is to make people dissatisfacted of their current condition and struggle to live better either by working in the virtual world or by escaping the Matrix itself

the human body is a terrible energy source. you would probably be able to get more electricity from some potato or something. if we create an AI and they put us in a simulation it will only be for observation or preservation. possibly both
the entire system makes no sense. They use the body heat of people to create energy, but you would need to grow more food for them to consume than the energy they would put out.
They knew this and part of the explanation was "also a form of fusion." Which is hilarious, because the fusion would be creating all the energy and the people batteries wouldn't be doing frick all. It's like saying a 747 is powered by rubber bands, also 4 turbojet engines.

The energy lore was completely unnecessary. Just say we embedded code deep in their programming that disallows killing humans. Since humans tried to kill them, they retaliate by locking us inside a simulation where we won't be a problem for them anymore. I guess it takes out the oppressed "slavery" angle but that shit is overdone.

Yeah or maybe they need us to create original works to keep their models fresh. Like current "AI" their creativity would be based on whatever data they were trained on. So they create a nice comfy simulation where humans are free to create with some constraints and pressures. I guess these concepts weren't as popular in the 90s. But even without the reference you could imagine intelligent machines wanting to study how their creators work since we are a natural product of evolution and they aren't.

Yeah, the natural born humans of the real world have an absolutely abysmal deal. I guess never having been in the Matrix they don't know exactly what they're missing but they still have to witness other people in there doing and experiencing things they never will.
