    >The series was originally developed for ABC and was only tangentially connected to the MCU and set in a world filled with superheroes.

    >The ABC version featured Luke Cage as Jessica Jones’s boyfriend who works as a hero for hire, and the showrunner planned to feature their daughter Danielle Cage in later seasons.

So they wanted a fricking annoying clown for a villain from the beginning. Very obvious they were never gonna treat him as anything but a joke for the shit Bendis OC to trample.

this show had quite possibly one of the worst season finales I've ever seen, it was sloppy and embarrassing and the choreography was a massive step down from Daredevil. Also that entire "friends of the heroes" episode was cringe as frick. still can't believe after all the hype the crossover culminated as total dogshit

Don't forget, Marvel said they could get an extention on the Daredevil rights if they handed over the rights to Silver Surfer and Galactus

Fox declined and so Daredevil went back to Marvel

Knowing Fox they would have fricked that movie up.

Yeah but now I really wonder how that MCU trajectory would've gone

The rumors were talked about during 2012 so there were probably discussing it at that time:
        https://www.comicsbeat.com/marvel-and-fox-playing-swapsies-for-daredevil-film-rights/

If it happened how much would their plans change? Would they just not do Ultron or Thanos and have one of the then-forthcoming Avengers movies be about the Avengers taking on Galactus and the Surfer?

Maybe. Gunn did pitch a Silver Surfer treatment back in 2015.

    >>Fox was originally developing an R-rated reboot film set in the 1970’s directed by Joe Carnahan and starring Robert Pattinson, but couldn’t start production before the rights returned to Marvel Studios.

They weren't really developing anything, they just wanted Marvel, who were already far more successful at making Marvel movies than FOX had ever been to that date, to pay to get the rights back early. The threat was that Marvel would lose them for another decade if a movie was made, but FOX also didn't want to assign a real budget so nothing got done and they reverted.

A few years later, FOX was bluffed into making the truly awful Fantastic Four reboot under Trank, who was hired principally because he was young and cheap and had done one critically praised superhero-like movie, after having tried to bluff Marvel into buying back those rights. Little to no oversight from the studio happened despite reports that Trank's set was out of control and the finished product has major problems of a quite basic kind in almost every aspect.

Leaving both projects until the last possible moment to announce is the big tell. If Marvel had bought back the FF rights during production, that movie would have shut down and FOX might have continued to be seen as a profitable entity within the Newscorp group, but as is, Murdoch decided to sell the movie side of the business (along with other portions) and focus solely on the news/reportage/opinion side. He has since been forced out of control of the company, which was long overdue.

Did Perlmutter have a single good idea?

      >Ike Perlmutter
The idea of having separate domains for TV and Film weren't unique to Perlmutter, and it's half the god damned reason there was so much hostility and interoperability issues for stories. It's not even like there's a problem of cross pollinating with writers, it's the damn producers trying to stake out their territory for certain stories. There's probably plenty of guild rules or some nonsense that motivates it, but it was breasts for getting great stories to grow beyond their little and fairly vulnerable backyards.
