Castlevania was a linear series of action platformers - sometimes with limited RPG elements - until Symphony of the Night went all in on being an action RPG with a heavy emphasis on exploring Dracula's castle. When people say "Metroidvania," the Castlevania portion they're really referring to is Symphony of the Night and several following games that tried to replicate it (Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, and Order of Ecclesia to name a few).
The last fight isn't bad, it's arguably one of the more creative Dracula fights.
It's just the awful movement speed and overall mediocre level design. That's about it though. It's not a horrible game, it's just not as good as most of the others in the series
Do people like Bathory in this? I know she's OC but to be fair what you can do with her is pretty limited since in Bloodlines she's just a Dracula cultist like Carmilla and in most movies she's basically just a serial killer driven by nothing more than her own vanity
Super Castlevania IV > SOTN
>regular castlevania vs metroidvania
Invalid comparison, like fruits with vegetables
What's the difference?

I see, thanks for the explanation.
The first 3 Gales I played where Metrovenias but I like more the linear ones, Rondo of Blood and Adventures Rebirth are the best ones.
How to trigger an entire fanbase.
That game was good, and I'm tired of people saying it wasn't.
I don't think people say the game isn't good, just that the last fight is kind of bullshit.

I don't think people dislike Dracula X/Vampire's Kiss so much as they just acknowledge what a step down from Rondo of Blood it is.
Why didn't he have the holes in his floor repaired?
Not that bad if you have the axe, honestly (and when you know that crouching prevents knock back).
