80's cyberpunk (some say the FIRST cyberpunk), Mr. Anderson type hacker gets on board with femme fatale cyborg and a few others to hack some very high end software, get involved in tons of weird shit. It's pretty good.
I'm also not particularly well read but it has some pretty unique prose. I don't know if it's a me thing or a Gibson thing but it's like this weird staccatoed narration where I find myself out of sync with the book if I'm not paying 100% attention to it. Very engaging.
It was his first book so it's some kind of raw gem, the fact that he was so green make the whole thing pretty unique. As Gibson matured his books became much more well written but to me they lost the originality, the whole trilogy Neuromancer/Monalisa Overdrive/Count Zero shows this. As the series goes you get better constructed characters and relantionships but the story and the setting becomes quite boring.
