Never got around to it. I'm sure it's no Band of Brothers, but is it any good?

It's a mixed bag, especially the first few episodes:
    >Several characters look and act identical
    >Heavily truncates and minimizes the amazing heroics of guys like John Basilone.
    >Wastes time on boring shit like civilian melodrama.
But at the same time, it has a lot of great imagery and once the characters get time to develop, they're as memorable as BOBs.
Also, the show is sort of a companion to BOB thematically, in the sense that BOB is a story of heroism and comradery from a bunch of very brave and closely knit men, while the pacific is the other type of war story where a bunch of ordinary guys get thrown into hell and have to survive, if they can.

The pacing gets fricked because of australia, leckie goes to florida island because peepee pants, and john basilone has a romance. But everything with Sledge and SNAFU is top tier.

      It's better.

      >The pacing gets fricked because of australia
The pacong of BoB gets completely fricked because of The Last Patrol.

I've watched both miniseries once each and I remember nothing about the Pacific. I don't even remember if I enjoyed it or not.

It depends. Most people get filtered. It's a very different story from Band of Brothers, but if your IQ is above 110 you'll realize its actually the superior show when looking back on it overall. If you're low IQ or need explosions like these people

      >they're as memorable as BOBs.

At no point is this the case

The setting just doesn't lend itself well to the BoB-style storytelling.

The Pacific theater was primarily a naval/aerial theater of operations and the infantry (and marines, etc...) were island-hoping and clearing locations where japs would just zerg rush them mindlessly or were too entrenched with no surrender as a viable options. Plus most of it is rancid tropical environments.

Literally a cursed situation to be on the ground for and the show only really briefly touches up on the horror of it. It could've done far far more in that regard and it always feels like it's holding its punches.

Don't bother. I am not memeing. I am not being ironic. Just don't bother if you know you're the kind of person who called Better Call Saul boring every week or couldn't stand Mad Men.

        >brings up other shows and assuming assumptions about IQ to make a point

Gay and aids mental gymnastics argument. This show is saccharine tripe interspersed with edgy scenes here and there. It's just about the same as mel gibson's highway ridge or whatever it's called, which had a same way of awful storytelling. I don't know why, but Americans seem to want to channel the pacific theater with tolstoy or dostojevski, but they do it in a cheap, knock-off way.

I have no ill will towards you dude. I didn't mean any offense. You seem pretty upset. IQ isn't something you can change or an indictment of your character. You being filtered isn't a character flaw. Just move on to watch something you're able to enjoy.

Eugene's story is the only kino part of the show, but his story doesn't start getting told until like episode 4 or something like that. Stick with it until then because the show starts to get really fricking good when you get there.

All you need to know is when it was made, so you know it's not woke trash like literally 90% of new content. Beyond that, yes, it's quality, but can't touch BOB for many reasons, among them, it doesn't follow a single narrative and is a bit disjointed.

It's much better than BoB. Historylets and weeaboos just get filtered by it because they have no idea what's going on and dont like seeing the US killing dindu nothin heckin Japarinos

    >not my heckin Japarinos!
    >reeeeeee

Checked. I actually watched the first episode when it premiered and didn't continue watching because it was so different from BoB and I didn't like it. I think I was around 18 when it came out. I just watched it all for the first time as an actual adult last year and I think it's better than BoB.

I think it's much easier to despise the Japanese than the Germans.
      >First strike on the USA with no formal declaration of war.
      >Would fake their surrender and then try to kill the captors with knives and grenades.
      >Treated POWs like absolute shit.
      >Just as brutal and murderous, if not more so, to civilians as Russians and Germans.
      >Would have drug the war out causing untold suffering for their own people if not for the atomic bombs.
I really hate the Japanese during WWII.

Suffer through the fire few episodes for some unfiltered War Is Hell kino, with none of the sweeping strings and folksy tru blue American hero bullshit that made BoB age so poorly. The cast is significantly weaker than BoB but the story (once it gets going) is much stronger, probably because Sledge was more sympathetic irl than that dickless robot Winters.

the only truly evil characters in the Pacific as Sledge's mother and that b***h at the demob hall, its kinda hilarious how much the show hates women

        Ph.D pimpers are pathetic

More historylet weeaboos for the slaughter

No you actual moron, no one dislikes it for that reason. It’s disliked because:
      >filter episodes in australia that go nowhere
      >boring romance
      >pointless hospital scenes
It’s already been said but the only decent thing about the show was Sledge’s storyline. Also the Guadalcanal episodes were decent as well.

It gets really good around episode 5. Episode 5-7 is basically one long battle if that's what you are looking for. I like the entire thing but it takes awhile to get going the first time you view it. I didn't really appreciate it until I saw it 2 or 3 times.

It's mostly cliches and american jingoism which get in the way of any decent scriptwriting.
Historical accuracy will take second place to pushing the same shitty narrative seen in every US made war film

At the very least, it's a good look at a theater of WW2 that doesn't get as much attention as Europe but was probably much tougher in all aspects. I learned who John Basilone was through this series.
