I'm genuinely curious where they can even take the series now after Re-Rise. The latter feels like the logical conclusion to Build series in general as the first one to have actual stakes.
Personally I would love an adaptation of the Gundam Breaker 3 storyline. It'd be a return to classic Build Fighters but with is own setting.
If they plan on making a new Build series, they gotta make an excuse to release the Gundam Griepe and Red Rider soon. I'm so annoyed they skipped out on the Red Rider for too long despite Gundam Aggressor being around for over 3 years already.

Yes, in the GM's Counterattack OVA. It's a direct sequel to the original Build Fighters featuring the same cast, and sets up a connection to Build Fighters Try.

It's sort of a forgettable OVA, it's barely 30 minutes long and has a minor timeskip. You might as well consider it an extra episode for the TV series.

They made artificial particles on Earth which does frick all for Reiji who's not on Earth. He's able to return in the OVA only due to a certain item but in TRY its implied he did eventually find some way to reliably return.

In the TV series China has Aila's SD Command gundam which previously Aila had taken with her when she went to Reiji's world at the end of BF. When China and Sei are preparing to watch the national tournament they put out 4 sets of tableware implying they're expecting company. And in the OVA Reiji and Aila's daughter is shown to be able to travel to Earth and back.
Just ignore everything after season 2. Continue the storyline from the season 1 cast. Boom done.

They aren't doing more build when literally the entire Build staff is working on Witch from Mercury. There are so few 2D mecha animators in the industry that Sunrise had to shove the G-Reco and Build teams together to produce a TV anime.
They keep saying they are trying to train more people to be able to do it. This has been happening for years. I wonder if people are just quitting or if demand is that high they have to always be training new people
It's because Sunrise is the only ones that do. It's not like they didn't hire freelance animators to work on their stuff, but those freelance animators are less and less numerous.
You can only train so many at a time, and it takes longer than just one production I'd assume.
They're thinking long term to ensure some group of people still remember how to do it.

You are aware that 2D animation costs more and it's not something they're "trying to train" for. The 3D styling we are seeing is the new norm since it's far cheaper.
No, the animation industry really is trying to train new 2D animators, its happening in western animation too. The different studios and art schools leaned so heavily into 3D that when they went to make 2D projects they realized they only had a shrinking pool of older animators who knew how to do it. This same problem happened at disney and they had to pull a bunch of people out of retirement to train new people.
It did pretty so so in the sales department. Definitely one of the better titles to come out in the last three years.
I think Sunrise really took a hit when most of the old timers left for Bones during the late 90s/early 00s
The level of animation quality on the shows after that really dropped and is still felt to this day
