Season 2 is confirmed. In an old stream from 2019 Viv said she needs at least 3 seasons to tell the story. In a recent interview Viv said that it's more than a 2 season show, but nothing more specific than that.

Also Viv did hint that she tried to pitch the show in the early 2010s but it was rejected and not wanted and that back in the day her earlier concept for the show was more slice of lifey and comedy focused with the crew hanging around in the hotel and doing goofy shit which definitely checks out based on the early pictures we have of the cast. After the first seasons of Rick and Morty + Bojack Horseman came out she realized she could do something with a more emotional story core and it worked if we look at the pilot.

Except that angel is clearly not Adam and Lute isn’t even actually there.
He was replaced by Adam and a fleshed out Lute because Adam fits into Viv’s direction of making the narrative far more dramatic and emotional, since he’s the one and only father they can expect to find in heaven.
The angel was an absolute nobody for the hotel residence to beat up in epic fight scenes, and nothing more. He wouldn’t react like this for example.

I liked the reprise musically but logically I didn't get it. The only way they could have it come even close to making sense is by having nobody actually know how you get into Heaven, but looking at what goes on there versus what goes on in Hell, there's are pretty striking and consistent differences. I think even if they weren't handed the rules directly, they could infer them after like a billion years of this. The only real thing they can argue against is Hell being meant to suck a lot, which would permit exterminations as a part of the suck, but apparently Hell isn't meant to do anything. Hell would still be forever though.

The issue is that Heaven/Adam are stating that "Hell is Forever", meaning that evil suffers eternal punishment. At the same time, Heaven/Adam is ending that punishment by double-killing Demons, meaning that "Hell is not Forever".
The other statement is akin that "Angels are Virtuous", yet the Exorcists are responsible for the worst mass genocides in the setting. And they are not just killing humans, but rather erasing their souls from existence while taking sadistic joy in it.
Heaven claims that "Hell is Forever" and "Angels are Virtuous" are absolute truths, yet do Exterminations that directly contradict those absolute truths, so the logical conclusion is that "the rules are shades of gray" and "Heaven must be a Lie".
TL;DR Heaven is a lie because Exterminations prove its hypocrisy.

Alastor is probably my favorite character. His design is completely ridiculous yet moments like him explaining why it's important to keep a smile make him feel more grounded. The only things keeping him from being a complete Gary Stu are people not caring he was gone for 7 years and being under Lilith's thumb. Otherwise, he could be great.

That’s part of the point why Nifty killing one of them off is a total nothing burger. With Adam, there’s an actual backstory to be really sad about (him blaming Eve when Cain kills Abel, and them breaking apart).
How much you bet Charlie recruits demons to amass a defensive force, with the knowledge on how to kill angels be a way to disarm the conflict, but Alastor turns the plan around and goes on a angel killing spree.
Emily will view Charlie negatively as she was in charge of the hell army, and season two will be about proving once and for all sinners can be redeemed and make Emily see reason while Sera can gaslight her again. The biggest obstacle to showing heaven their redemption: The Vees.

Depends what contracts they have. We'll assume Val has contracts on their souls and they could be more restrictive. Angel's contract was done a while ago and maybe that's why it's not as restrictive and also why it's limited to the porn studio only. In the Loser Baby moment we can see how Husk is more tightly bound implying Al has complete control of his soul. Angel's rope is more loose.

Nah, it seems about right. They beat one obvious and easy antagonist, a brief reprieve from big action comes after it with a new Heaven antagonist (Speaker of God, prolly) and a Hell antagonist (whatever the frick Roo is now) are the future big villains.

The extermination was a great cliffhanger plot point to get people invested, quickly sweeping it out of the way in season 1 allows her to get to the actual core of the show, the redemption of the characters at the hotel. Reminder it was always planned to have the extermination time reduced so she was always planning this interestingly enough
What's interesting is that this was always planned, ever since the earliest drafts of Viv's story for Hazbin as a series. As you can see here it mentions how the time for the extermination was shortened but for a different reason. My guess is that Viv used the extermination as cliffhanger bait in the pilot to get people hooked and at the end of season 1 the extermination will be cancelled completely, allowing her to focus on the story and redemption at the hotel.
Having such a big plot point being the focus and then deciding to go back to what the show should always have been about is just insulting your audience.
Viv has always said that the show is about redemption and the themes that come around that. She jebaited everyone with the action extermination cliffhanger in the pilot and it worked so well.
Reminder how Helluva Boss shifted to homosexual emotional drama in season 2 so yeah.

The Vees are gonna be the main threat in season 2 so I guess the focus will be the biggest dangers that need to be dealt with in hell itself, after fighting with heaven. What if the final battle is going to be crazy because it turns out that the overlords made secret deals with Adam that gives him and the angels the will to slaughter the sinners of hell (the exorcist mask), in exchange for protections, so mid-battle, Velvet and others will betray the sinners.
I do think the Vees will collab with heaven, it may even be one of the main plot points in season 2. Even on the inactive Voxtagram/Instagram accounts of the characters the staticmoth couple teased they went on a business trip to heaven so yeah. Not sure if Adam will be involved or if he will just be killed at the end of season 1.
Look at the mask Adam and the Exprcist wear. He already made a deal with Vox to get them. So I think the main goal of the final battle is to turn them off

Yeah I've seen that theory too but Vox hasn't been around in hell forever and the exterminations have been happening for a long time. But it would make sense that the Angels upgraded their tech with Vox tech as a more recent development, to kill more sinners, which also benefits the vees if the souls of the other overlords are killed while their souls are spared.

I think Adam was the one of the strongest beings in Heaven (being the only truly pure human as intended); but they couldn’t get him to lead armies/exterminations until they had access to Vox’s brainwashing technology. I thought about this. To me the good writing version of season 2 would be heaven backing off but not trying to work together with hell due to being freaked out over a bunch of angels being slaughtered. Meanwhile the cast decides to keep working on trying to improve sinners while there is drama in hell with the Vs and so on
The most probable cause for Heaven not doing that is the Speaker of God showing up to slap the shit out of them for failing to follow God's directives this much, and telling them to halt exterminations until further notice. We're yet to get to see the Speaker, watever the frick that may be, while it sure was mentioned in Sera's cast note. Seems like a ripe opportunity.

Seriously, you had to scratch by a few frames of animation to notice Adam being depressed and regretful about allowing the sinners to exist. Then infer heavily that Adam is sleeping around with many angels and naming angels after veganas because he misses his first vegana, Eve.

What's interesting is that this was always planned, ever since the earliest drafts of Viv's story for Hazbin as a series. As you can see here it mentions how the time for the extermination was shortened but for a different reason. My guess is that Viv used the extermination as cliffhanger bait in the pilot to get people hooked and at the end of season 1 the extermination will be cancelled completely, allowing her to focus on the story and redemption at the hotel.

Also Viv did hint that she tried to pitch the show in the early 2010s but it was rejected and not wanted and that back in the day her earlier concept for the show was more slice of lifey and comedy focused with the crew hanging around in the hotel and doing goofy shit which definitely checks out based on the early pictures we have of the cast. After the first seasons of Rick and Morty + Bojack Horseman came out she realized she could do something with a more emotional story core and it worked if we look at the pilot.
Oh and she also mentioned how it was more action packed with the people at the hotel rebelling against heaven. I guess she decided to move the action to Helluva Boss instead.

Adam made them all wear masks since he wears a mask to hide his true sinner identity. The only reason I speculate on this is his two previous designs where he looks like a demon.
The first design is not even Adam. It’s a random angel. The second design (pilot) is Adam and he’s under an obvious mask and looked a lot more serious (cause he’s an openly angry dad and more dramatic). The final Adam is basically this:

The angel was an absolute nobody for the hotel residence to beat up in epic fight scenes, and nothing more. He wouldn’t react like this for example.

I had to look up the wiki to understand the difference between hellborn demons and sinner demons, and how apparently the purges only affect sinner demons for some reason. If the concern is Hell doing an uprising, wouldn't exterminating the Hellborn make more sense since there's seemingly more of them?
In episode 1 it's mentioned how Lucifer made a deal with heaven that the hellborn don't get hurt in the extermination.

I liked the reprise musically but logically I didn't get it. The only way they could have it come even close to making sense is by having nobody actually know how you get into Heaven, but looking at what goes on there versus what goes on in Hell, there's are pretty striking and consistent differences. I think even if they weren't handed the rules directly, they could infer them after like a billion years of this. The only real thing they can argue against is Hell being meant to suck a lot, which would permit exterminations as a part of the suck, but apparently Hell isn't meant to do anything. Hell would still be forever though.

The issue is that Heaven/Adam are stating that "Hell is Forever", meaning that evil suffers eternal punishment. At the same time, Heaven/Adam is ending that punishment by double-killing Demons, meaning that "Hell is not Forever".
The other statement is akin that "Angels are Virtuous", yet the Exorcists are responsible for the worst mass genocides in the setting. And they are not just killing humans, but rather erasing their souls from existence while taking sadistic joy in it.
Heaven claims that "Hell is Forever" and "Angels are Virtuous" are absolute truths, yet do Exterminations that directly contradict those absolute truths, so the logical conclusion is that "the rules are shades of gray" and "Heaven must be a Lie".
TL;DR Heaven is a lie because Exterminations prove its hypocrisy.

So God(tm) juiced Adam so high with Black/White energy he's beaming gold including his face/halo/all his magic conjuring have been exclusively golden. Remember Hell is Forever the extra dance group? All of them were golden.
If there is a big face reveal for Adam it's gonna be he's become almost a robot. There's stuff like no one asking about Eve or even asking why Adam doesn't have animosity towards Lucifer for letting him have the apple from Eve as well. His background is super shaky, maybe this Adam is really a bot clone of the real one who was sent to Hell to begin with.

Depends what contracts they have. We'll assume Val has contracts on their souls and they could be more restrictive. Angel's contract was done a while ago and maybe that's why it's not as restrictive and also why it's limited to the porn studio only. In the Loser Baby moment we can see how Husk is more tightly bound implying Al has complete control of his soul. Angel's rope is more loose.

What if the final battle is going to be crazy because it turns out that the overlords made secret deals with Adam that gives him and the angels the will to slaughter the sinners of hell (the exorcist mask), in exchange for protections, so mid-battle, Velvet and others will betray the sinners.
I do think the Vees will collab with heaven, it may even be one of the main plot points in season 2. Even on the inactive Voxtagram/Instagram accounts of the characters the staticmoth couple teased they went on a business trip to heaven so yeah. Not sure if Adam will be involved or if he will just be killed at the end of season 1.
Look at the mask Adam and the Exprcist wear. He already made a deal with Vox to get them. So I think the main goal of the final battle is to turn them off
Yeah I've seen that theory too but Vox hasn't been around in hell forever and the exterminations have been happening for a long time. But it would make sense that the Angels upgraded their tech with Vox tech as a more recent development, to kill more sinners, which also benefits the vees if the souls of the other overlords are killed while their souls are spared.
I think Adam was the one of the strongest beings in Heaven (being the only truly pure human as intended); but they couldn’t get him to lead armies/exterminations until they had access to Vox’s brainwashing technology. So that’s why Adam doesn’t seem in control of himself and acts like a clueless Joe Biden that needs Lute to help him out.
According to the leaks, Lucifer will keep transforming in different things during the fight so this will be fun to watch

To me the good writing version of season 2 would be heaven backing off but not trying to work together with hell due to being freaked out over a bunch of angels being slaughtered. Meanwhile the cast decides to keep working on trying to improve sinners while there is drama in hell with the Vs and so on
The most probable cause for Heaven not doing that is the Speaker of God showing up to slap the shit out of them for failing to follow God's directives this much, and telling them to halt exterminations until further notice. We're yet to get to see the Speaker, watever the frick that may be, while it sure was mentioned in Sera's cast note. Seems like a ripe opportunity.
