So I watched this. Casting was ok. No idea why they picked this stuff for the movie. The pairings are forced. I didn't like the changes to the limbo monsters. Kinda weird there was only one employee in the hospital. Felt like a pilot for a WB teen action drama like buffy.
Sex with Magik
Shw looked the part but was a bit too c**ty at the start
So she acted the part too.
I don't remember her ever being so mean girls top b***h to another woman just for being new in the comics.
She is often awkward and stand offish. Making her an alpha b***h kinda undoes her autism in the comics. Kind of hard to be some girl Chad and also be a spurg
They screwed so many things about the characterizations compared to The New Mutants original comic run. Illyana was never a queen b***h and she ruled Limbo - she wasn't chased by its demons; Rayne was an up-tight ultra-catholic and not friggin gay; Sam was too much of a whipped puppy; yadda yadda...
Just another example of people making a movie using the lexicon of a story and not the contents of that story.
Hey, it’s Ayy Tayy-Joy, alien-looking girl
Who asked for this??
Me, I liked it but it was also kinda weird that it felt half-assed, coulda and shoulda been better.
iirc they didn't get the proper post-production because the Disney sale was happening.
Not you, we got it
Liked the casting for the most part but they dropped the ball for almost everything else. The Demon Bear Saga is one of my favourite comic storylines and what got me into the New Mutants to begin with and this movie is barely an attempt to do justice to that story.
Not a very good New Mutants adaption, not a very good horror movie, pretty derivative teen drama. Fails on all fronts
The good:
-Magik casting
-The 45 cumulative seconds of Magik powers/fx
The bad:
-Everything else
The only bad casting was Roberto.
Disappointed Sam didn't once say that he's nigh invulnerable when he's blasting.
Unnecessary Lockheed cameo

I really widh I could olay with X-Men characters throughout the movies like action figures and make my perfect X-Men team and brotherhood.
It was supposed to be a first movie in a trilogy. Then Fox was bought by Disney, the movie got delayed multiple times and got some extensive reshots.
I watched through a documentary about Claremont’s x-men and from his description Fox had NO IDEA what to do with this franchise until he threw together a memo about it being about race and prejudice, I thought he sounded a little up his own ass (deservedly so, his run was fantastic for a solid decade) but didn’t realize how true that was until we saw all the sony leaks and how little they understand the property they have full reign over
I watched that the other day too. I thought it was funny when they did a whole section on how important his characters were to women and then followed it up with one or more marvel women employees that had never read a comic before and had assumed they were going to write porn.
It is both funny for the obvious reason and because of the implication that some of the horny in Chris's work is actually from the women helping him.
It was bland, but i liked it
There's no mistery if you know what's Danny's power
They should have done a double-twist with an evil doctor instead of using Reyes.
>There's no mistery if you know what's Danny's power
Yes, I was watching it with my dad who likes action movies and I think he enjoyed the mystery but I was just sitting there waiting for things to move forward. There is zero mystery if you've read ANY of the og nm stuff
