Ripley was a space truck driver. It made sense that she could drive a glorified fork lift. Marines laugh about it and don’t hang their heads like they were “put in their place” or anything. Ripley doesn’t know how to use a gun. There’s a scene that shows the marines training her how to use one so she can fight with it later. Compare Ripley’s abilities and how she develops them to Ray from Star Ward and you’ll understand the difference.
They even established in Aliens that back on Earth Ripley was doing blue collar work with machinery, and she was threatened with having her license revoked in order to get her to come along for the mission. The marines were teasing her because she was a civilian, not because she was a woman.

I don't mind the main character being a woman because against a Predator no human can go 1vs1, it matters little if you are a huge meathead or a tiny girl because the Pred still will be like 10 times stronger than you. It took me 5 minutes to come up with a much better Native American premise Predator movie. This idea is lazy and stupid. Keep it simple.
What was your premise? I had an idea about a pack of hunters going after what they thought was a wendigo in the mountains (humanoid, super strong, heightened senses, butchers humans)
I like the Wendigo idea. Mine is basically the first and this one with the Indians except it's a group of males. They're on a buffalo hunt in the winter up in the mountains. The opening will have a predator ship crash land near there. The weather or something fricks up his initial landing.
The Indians are hunting, one tags a buffalo, he rides after him. He finds green blood, maybe the buffalo gets slaughtered by the Pred before the Indian shows up.
A Shaman knows of the Predators, not much knowledge but knows enough to let the men know what they could be up against. Nothing lame like the Shaman owning a skull, maybe he had a tool left behind, maybe an arrow, maybe a bow as well.
Basically that. It's simple without much thought thrown into it right now. I like the Indian concept because it's ancient and could show Predators from 600 years ago with more cruel weapons and tech.
