Why are they shilling gremlins so hard? Gremlins has been dormant for over 30 years, it's the only 80s franchise I wanted to get some kind of reboot or continuation, and it never did until last year, let them cook

I enjoyed the movies, but I just don't see any value in the new series since it's just another project following a formula and trying to be as inoffensive as possible
The problem was it was trying to do lore and be serious. Gremlins are meant to be crazy and violent. Nobody care about the lore just make them frick up shit and be funny and we’ll love it, you can try and make them scary like the did in the first movie that’s also fine, but they should always be batshit inane. You don’t even need Billy as the focus just have a grandkid or some other vague family relative find Gizmo and steal him. Let the idiot get Gizmo wet and the rest writes itself.
Even Gremlins 2 was making fun of the Gremlins "lore." Good lord lore homosexualry has become such an absolute cancer. Just shove a green monster in a food processor and we'll call it a movie.
I was moreso referring to the Scooby Doo movie, let them cook. I liked Secrets but I get why other people thought it was boring. It also made Owl House really funny in retrospect because I can't unhear the wizard guy from Gremlins Secrets
To its credit there were episodes and scenes about as violent and batshit as the first movie
The original novelization of the first movie had the Mogwai actually be alien experiments that were abandoned because of their unstable genetic make-up that had them breed like crazy, melt like crazy or just go crazy and weren't actually Chinese at all. They had their own language that they used to talk to each other that the humans thought were just cute chirping (so Gizmo's offspring were able to openly plot against Billy without him knowing and Gizmo unable to stop them as they threatened to kill him and Billy first thing if he interfered and the one 'tame' offspring was driven mad/crazy with rage as it was the one Billy took to that doctor who kept sticking him with needles).
Shame no other media that I know of continued that, the novelization of the second movie more or less followed the movie exactly aside from the Brain Gremlin butting in at one point at the same time the movie theater scene happened in the movie.
Media CEOs are moron and up their own as so they're just now jumping on 80s nostalgia despite 90s and 00's nostalgia being on the up swing.
The second film has a frickton of meta humour and apparently that's the rave with kids these days
For the same reason WB still shoves Magic of Oz, Austin Powers and Casablanca references on all of their kids media. It's their "Hey! We own stuff too, you know?" moments

They are softening up the public for a new gremlins movie. Last one was a parody on itself and sequals. It's going to the the diet version of force awakens to get people to watch it and treat gremlins as a threat and add black people and an Asian to one of the leads to the the film. I'm not hating that is just the formula Hollywood uses lately. Three races exist in movies.

Scooby Doo is the perfect thing to sell around Halloween and its easy to plug whatever horror/supernatural thing you want into a Scooby Doo story in addition to having set a precedent for guest stars early on.
Nobody really cares about animated family sitcoms outside of adult cartoons anymore, but you risk fricking up the sales of kids cereal and vitamins if you go full steam ahead with turning the Flintstones into Ungabunga Family Guy.

Courage, Krypto, and Brave&Bold were all in movies the past handful of years and even the last series centered around guest celebrities. The last movie in the 13th Ghost/Return to ZI/Happy Halloween trilogy even featured The Scarecrow without Batman.

If this Gremlins crossover is releasing this year, then production of scooby-doo movies never stopped. You can't greenlight a movie and finish animating it in less than a year.
Photo in the OP seems to be of a recently completed script, or at least one that's being handed out to voice actors for recording, so I doubt they've started animating it yet. It's likely a 2025 movie, which means we're going without one this year
If that is true, then 2024 will be the 1st year without a SD movie since 1998.
That one was canceled because it was about Scooby Doo characters but Gremlin one works because it allows Zaslav to say "brand synergy" and ejaculate in his pants.
