It looks really great.
Quote clever. Every toy or product you have should a small videogame to push sales!
Indeed!
Classic wish fullfilmemt!
And the newer toys!
THEY'RE GROSS!
(But they still get girls!)
>HUD graphics are 2D animation-like
>everything else is pixel art
oh god what a huge screw up
no buy from me
>Screenwave Media
checks out
Did Big Ryan really troon out?
I knew this looked familiar then I saw Toxie, yes it's coming to me. Can't wait!
Hope we least get another Chuck Lorre cover
>voice acting
How many of the show's VAs are still around?
They're using Team FourStar. Casting the likes of Rodger Bumpass, Paul Eiding, or Gregg Berger would probably take the game's entire budget.
>Team FourStar
Oh, good for them! Glad to hear they're finding new projects to work on.
Ed Gilbert passed years ago
Gameplay looks good but the trailer music goes a little too hard compared to the gameplay shown, I hope the in game stage themes fit better. It would really be cool if the arcade beat em up genre makes a come back through old cartoons.
>the trailer music goes a little too hard
Well, that's the theme song to the cartoon.
(or maybe a remix of it? I haven't seen it in over 20 years)
Remix.
Oh it should be in the game, in its original form for the opening and an awesome final boss cutscene or fight and maybe a mellowed version for a stage track but I just don't think hard metal version goes well over the trailer or general gameplay.
kill all 80s toy cartoon revivals
Oh man, it's obviously been a while for me, because I don't recall Yvonne being so cute. I may have a new obscure waifu.
>voiced by Kath Soucie
Be still, my throbbing erection.
Kath Soucie: Making your cartoons hornier for over 30 years.
As someone who only barely knows of the movie franchise from back-of-video-box summaries, isn't she supposed to be the blind girl that Toxie's in love with? I never saw the show.
The cartoon just makes her nearsighted.
The cartoon made her just have incredibly bad vision without her glasses. She still falls in love with Toxie when she can't "see" him, as she's not wearing her contacts, but the gag is that when she gets her new glasses on she still thinks he's handsome-- but she does scream in horror at how disgustingly hideous the tie he chose to wore that day is.
Had time for a quick sketch, but it's still really rough.

I was wondering about how her in the game didn't have one eye covered
The little bit I remembered of her was the hair covering her eye
Yeah, there's other changes, too. Like she's got tights on now, and her clothes are either ripped or have slime on them (didn't get too close of a look). I wonder if they're going to give her or the mom powers in the game storyline to explain why they're fighting alongside Toxie.
They likely won't think of it any harder than the Shredder's Revenge devs did when they made April playable and able to fight.
I think it's slime, the other crusaders are have the same green goop on them too. You don't get a good look at it, but at 0:05 you can see Yvonne start to lift up a car, so I'm guessing either whatever trouble Mr Killemoff is causing at the start of the game mutated Yvonne and Toxie's mom to give them superstrength, or they'll just do a retcon and say/imply they were mutated at the same time Toxie and the other mutants were.
Hopefully the show is too obscure for outrage baiters to get mad about her being designed. I think she looks better tbh. The redesign sort of gives her a punk look.
Very nice!
I hope you'll do her and the mother next time, More curves.
Why make a video game based on a 1980's cartoon?
Because it'll be an instant buy for old nostalgia tards like me?
Worked for TMNT. And pretty much everything they did back then, Toxic Crusaders did too.
But what if the Ninja Turtles come out with a retro inspired beat-em up that is critically and financially a massive success, and it alongside Streets of Rage inspires a whole new wave of retro beat-em up games, and then the Lloyd Kaufman of Troma films decides he wants in on that action and he contracts the people who made the AVGN video game and Team FourStar to make a brand new video game featuring the Toxic Crusaders in the year 2023, and that stops your evil plan?
Oh please, what are the chances of THAT happening?
Don't be ridicules!
I just want a good spider-man beat ‘em up
Literally who
As a refugee of the glorious 90's, allow me to welcome you to the world of TMNT wannabes. On your left, you'll see the Biker Mice From Mars, on your right, marvel at the C.O.W. Boys of Moo-Mesa. Or perhaps Street Sharks are more your style?
No? Then perhaps you'd prefer to settle for the kiddiefication of a B-movie horror gorefest? Troma Films turned The Toxic Avenger into a kids cartoon and renamed it Toxic Crusaders. Now, it's getting a new video game. That should bring you up to speed.
Ok that was pretty insightful thanks.
No problem. Actually, I just checked, and it looks like the entire series is on YouTube. It only lasted one season, so it's just 13 episodes.
They're DVD rips and Lloyd's intro for the DVD is a beautiful piece of media so I'm glad it's on youtube fore people to see.
I mean, when you get down to it, it was the closest to aping the TMNT formula. Sure the other shows were about animal mutants who fought crime, but Toxic Crusaders was something more adult oriented like the original TMNT comics, turned into a Saturday morning toy commercial. And don't forget, well after Turtlemania had come and gone, toy companies and by extension cartoon blocks were trying to mimic it, because you also had Road Rovers, Extreme Dinosaurs, and probably a few more I'm forgetting. Thankfully Power Rangers clones mostly stayed on Fox, because all of those were Saban, and he wasn't about to fight himself.
Junkyard is cute.
If I thought the Toxic Avengers movies were unwatchable, would I like the cartoon at all?
You like comedy? The whole thing was a self-mocking, fourth-wall breaking comedy.
One of the last things I ever expected to see, but awesome. I loved Toxic Crusaders as a kid. Only watched a couple of the movies but they were amusing

Come onnnnn Poultrygeist
Boco, read the post above that one.
You're welcome.
Oh, sweet. Hmm, can they do Cannibal the Musical?
>Sgt Kabukiman isn't playable
Lame.
They didn't reveal Casey Jones as playable until SR was almost out. Let's wait and see.
Loved this cartoon as a kid, but wasn't into Troma or horror films in general, so I'm not familiar with Sgt. Kabukiman. What's the big appeal?
For even further obscurity, Marvel published a tie-in comic book too.
Is it just me, or is Headbanger's dynamic pretty similar to Attack of the Killer Tomatoes' Dr. Gangreen and Igor Smith?
I wonder if someone's chomping at the bit to revive that a second time.
>revive that a second time
Wait... did they do an AotKT revival? Or are you referring to the 90's cartoon?
Yeah, it and the sequel movies were made strictly because they saw an episode of Muppet Babie that used footage from it do well in the ratings.
Oh, ok, I thought you might have meant another revival SINCE then.
Toxic Crusader sucks and has always sucked. Would have preferred that garbage stay in the past, gone and forgotten.
>Hi, I'm the obligatory negger, dropping in to your thread to tell you that the thing you like is not very good! Yes, yes, SEETHE in yiour anger, and FEED ME (YOU)s!
Sorry you have shit taste and take offense to someone calling a trashy shlock gore movie bad.
I want the next Shredder’s Revenge ripoff to be all of the rest.
Street Sharks vs Extreme Dinosaurs vs Moo Mesa and so on.
A crossover beat-em-up ala Battletoads vs. Double Dragon could be a lot of fun.
Wouldnt a fighting game fit better?
I want the next Shredder’s Revenge ripoff to be all of the rest.
Street Sharks vs Extreme Dinosaurs vs Moo Mesa and so on.
HA!
I loved this as a kid. I had the toys and even cherished my #1 Marvel comic based on it. It had a Sam Kieth cover and I thought it was the coolest goddamned thing ever
Yvonne a cute
Didn't Konami do a Toxic Avengers beat-em-up? They were doing arcade side scrollers based on damn near everything back in the 90's. Surprised (and a little pissed) all Biker Mice got was a stupid racing game.
It was Bandai and Sega actually. I had it on the genesis because I was big fan of beat-em-ups, but it was complete dogshit.
The original Toxic Avenger is a recommended watch if you like intentionally over the top B movies.
>ANOTHER revival this time by the Toys Who Made us guys is coming
They're pretty much inevitable. I do expect several on-bike levels.
why is there a token normal human woman
She's the girlfriend.
I know they weren't really TMNT rip-offs and that Tatsunoko likely doesn't give a shit about them, but a Samurai Pizza cats beat-em up would kick ass
Maybe given how they're more well-known in the US, a western dev could even work on it.
I would want it like how the fan-translation for the NES game did it: two different localizations, one dub-based with all the ad-libs and one that's truer to the original. That way, everybody wins.
>This
>Biker Mice from Mice getting another revival
Now that Mutant Mayhem looks like shit, now's the best time to bring back TMNT knock-offs
Hoping for a Mummies Alive revival myself.
Mummies Alice was pretty kickass, ngl.
