There's a new strain of edgy (for India) thrillers the past couple years that Animal's part of. I'd say the Lokesh Cinematic Universe movies and Jailer fit the bill. Animal really is its own kind of nuts though.

Yeah I'm really enjoying these. Leo just came out recently and while it wasn't the best of the franchise, it was still pretty damn enjoyable. Can't wait to see him tie all these films up in the sequels tbh. If he does it right, it might be top kino. It's unprecedented in Tamil cinema history to have those actors in the same film when it does get to that point.
