The issue with Eisenberg wasn't Eisenberg, it was how he was written and directed.

It works IMO. It's also a theme that he COULD be just like Superman if he wasn't so obsessed and narcissistic.

Seems too young. This film in general confuses me with its title of Legacy.

It's supposed to be a Year One story that isn't an origin story but covers a young Superman in his early superhero career days. Legacy probably refers to his Kryptonian heritage since Braniac is going to be the villain.

He's gotta be established enough for the Authority to be the new kids on the block and set up a "What's so Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way" story. That and For All Seasons being the apparent basis of the movie is a real weird combo and has me concerned. (Along the lines of combining Death of Superman and Dark Knight Returns, maybe?)

It seems to be a role reversal, the DCU is supposed to be a setting where the public has known about superheroes for decades but their reputation is that their government stooges and use their power to commit unsavory acts but Superman's rise is going to usher in a new era of benevolent heroes that actually try to help everyone instead of serving their own nations or agenda.

The whole line-up is bizarre. Creature Commandos as the first film, the Authority, A Waller TV series - they are all things you do when everything is in full swing and you are starting to scrape the barrel. They are then muddling things up for casual audiences with Elseworlds. If we go by part of the failures with the MCU then TV shows are also a mistake for shared universes.

Creature Commandos and Waller were leftover projects from before Gunn became head of the DCU but were already in production. Authority is probably getting a movie since they'll play a major role in Superman Legacy.

I like Hoult and all, but he's a GigaDweeb, height notwithstanding. I remember that movie he did that was supposed to be his American Psycho, and it was just sad to think that he and the producers thought they had the next Bateman and Bale on their hands. He can do smarmy and slimy though, and he can get jacked so it's not as if it's bad casting, but he doesn't exclude the pure Alpha energy of Lex. Yes, he's a seething hairlet, but before Superman emasculated him, he was THE top dog. Hoult's just an upgraded Eisenberg. Really, the whole thing feels like a dollar store remake of whatever they were doing a decade ago.

I'm more interested to see where the Skarsgards end up. Alex was up for Sentry before they got a Korean manlet, and Bill could do JonCon or Alec Holland. Both could be in the running for Doom. Bill would've been a better Lex I think, he's got a weirder face, but has that autistic and menacing look.

Same tbh. I know a lot of people hate Sentry, and I dislike nonsense like
        >ermegerhd, he took Rogue's virginity, isn't he soooo awesome
or BENIS' awful writing. But the Jenkins runs and general idea were really interesting to me. Having this guy go from bum to super-genius god and having to both balance that, figure out if he really was a super-hero with an alter-ego or if he literally rewrote reality to that extent, and trying to do good while having the worst monster inside him, were decent hooks. And then the curveball is dropped that the Void is the "real" Reynolds and the Sentry was his guilt taking form and manifesting as a super-hero. That to me was unique and a very good foundation. I always saw the Sentry as a more nuanced Jekyll/Hyde, yet most people hate him and jerk off to Hulk, so what do I know?

In any case, Sentry looking like 11/10 perfection is a core concept of the character. An ugly Korean with a flat face that they're going to CGI muscles on surely isn't that. Hell, leakers say it's a Super-Saiyan thing where he gets blonde hair when he powers up. Wanna bet that "good Sentry" is Asian with black hair, and when he becomes evil Sentry he gets the "whitewashed" golden hair? Hell, they're not even doing The Void properly. It's apparently going to be a physical realm they'll go into.

It just makes me goddamn mad. They could've made a great psychological horror film and even kept it separate from the main MCU while still technically in continuity with the way the Sentry's powers work. It would've been their own Joker. But no, let's just do a SKWAD rip-off, cast an ugly Korean manlet and have him job to Dollar Store Super-Soldiers.

Why can't they do literally anything good? Geriatric Chilean Reed Ricardo, Walled Sue, Zesty Kangz, Korean Manlet Sentry; it's as if they deliberately want to tank the brand.

I don't recall the Sentry ever doing anything notable beyond being patient zero in Marvel Zombies

    >DCU Clark looks like Henry Cavill
    >DCU Lois kinda-sorta looks like younger Amy Adams
    >DCU Lex looks like Eisenberg
Watch Josh Duhamel play Batman in the DCU.

These literally are literally cheaper, younger look-a-likes. WTF is Gunn planning for this timeline?

There is no way you believe any of the that except the cavill comparison unless you are face blind. Why are snyder cultist reaching so hard? I don't even get how his movies have gained such a cult, I get how raimi did, his movies felt very genuine to the character of spider-man or even nolan at points but sneeder? His movies seem like they are scared of feeling like sci fi pulp comic books

The preliminary box office numbers for Aquaman 2 are atrocious. Shazam 2 levels of bad.

Superhero fatigue has clearly set in for general audiences. Gunn better hope his Superman movie is good enough/has enough hype behind it to break through the superhero apathy that audiences now have.

            Anyone can predict things.

I predict a giant Galactus sized ass will slam into the Earth 10 minutes after I post this and claim to have sources for it.

Predictions don't mean shit. 2016 proved that.

Is there a chance this will be good? Maybe Gunn is the cinematic Mark Millar where everything else he makes is juvenile crap except for an inexplicably good Superman.

God, the Middle East plot is real isn't it? I know Gunn denied it but he did it in the same wishy washy way he denied The Authority being in it and now it's confirmed that they are.

        The plot is real.
It's just not about middle Eastern terrorists, but the Middle East is apart of the movie
