Small Soldiers has an homage to the film Patton -- the scene where Patton stands in front of the flag. The background music is the same in both scenes. It's interesting because Jerry Goldsmith was the composer for both films.
>On making the film, director Joe Dante recalled, "Originally I was told to make an edgy picture for teenagers, but when the sponsor tie-ins came in the new mandate was to soften it up as a kiddie movie. Too late, as it turned out, and there are elements of both approaches in there. Just before release it was purged of a lot of action and explosions."[3]
Release the Dante Cut
I guess it didn't cost much aside from the CGI, there are no huge names and the sets are just >office >suburban house >small toy store
nowadays they'd spend $20,000 a day renting a greenscreen warehouse to render those environments

I thought this was the American History X curbstomp scene from the thumbnail.
Gorganites were lame
Commando Elite actually had personality
This. The Gorgonites were fricking gay. Even as a kid I thought this.
the only cool one was the head honcho, the rest of them were like mutant troony cabbage patch kids
You wouldn't be hiding any Gorgonite scum here would you anon?
Absolutely not. Commando Elite all the way, SIR!
I would have helped the Commando Elite win if I was there.
Frick those mutated Gorgonite freaks.
DEMOLITION IS MY MISSION!
Rare small soldiers thread. Very nice.
Why did it not get a sequel?
I recently saw some sort of trailer/small film based on the series, i think they're making a game or something. Was pretty well done.
it's actually a sequel to the first film. I really hope they don't frick it up.
Cool hope it does turn out well
Y’all aren’t talking about the fan trailer are you cause I don’t see shit Thats official in production
>Y'all
Stupid yanks
Back then sometimes they just made a good movie and left it alone
The movie apparently flopped.
>Budget. $40 million. Box office. $87.5 million
Meh, I don't know how much they spent on marketing, I guess a lot considering they sold toys.
I owned an Archer action figure as a child
She cute.
>what if team hero shooter slop, but... with le Small Soldiers nostalgia grift??
FRICK you
the ninja sniper from the new small soldiers thing looks pretty cool, would unironically by a toy of him.
>Budget: $40 million
I get that they were 1998 dollars but that still is crazy for a movie with so many 100% CGI charactors
