>Niles: One of my patients had a rather amusing Freudian Slip. He was having dinner with his wife and he meant to say, "Pass the salt," but instead he said, "You've ruined my life you blood-sucking shrew
Comedy?
This is Big Bang Theory of 90s.

the fact you posted a picture from the worst flashback scene of the entire show says youre being a prick about things here.
its a good show.
succinct, but somewhat stale. coulda mentioned the laughing track too for example.
I... AM... WOUNDED
Frasier carried this show single handedly.
bullshit, the only character that was hit or miss was daphne.
Nah, Hyde-Pierce was a Rowan Atkinson-tier physical comedy actor.
You're not entirely wrong, this was normie comedy in the 90s.
But given how TV was made back then (many episodes, less serialized) it meant there were occasionally some real bangers, this is where the typical anon conception of these shows having "soul" comes from. Also much less political correctness and enforced diversity bullshit.
Yep pretty much came to say this.
The lack of a constant story, more of a long term progression, similar to say, I dunno, Star Trek with its villain of the other week while there was some long-term story in the background building towards an eventual goal for the season.
Even Big Bang Theory has some funny bits in it, at least early on, but they went full normalgay humor and dropped any geeky shit, besides the random mention of [hot well known science topic].
The latter example is what the new Frasier series will be like - and it is going to be as painful as when TBBT went down the shitter too. TBBT could have been great if not for that.
>Sherry, Niles?
>Hahaha
How is this not different than "Alan get out of my house"?
I sometimes consider how the cast could've been downgraded to produce a standard sitcom, like if Phil Hartman played Frasier is an over-the-top SNL kind of way, and David Spade played Niles or something.
Why was Niles such a simp b***h? Dude is literally smelling her hair
>Please remain in the relaxation grotto?
>Have crueler words ever been spoken?
Platinum door should have been a thing.
Is Kelsey Grammer the only person in Hollywood history to just exist in the industry without ever really being 'handsome' till he entered his 40's? It seems like such an odd niche, both professionally and personally. How many people age like wine from 40-70?
do you think any of the men from cheers were handsome?
well maybe Sam and Cliff, just as 'characters', I can't judge handsomeness necessarily as I was more partial to Kirstie Alley and the blonde. Woody was well cast but seemed like a shady character. It's just Frasier who has that 'third wish' dynamic where it's like he becomes a presence but only after he becomes bald and 40-something -- it's like 'damn, should've been more specific'...
Sam was handsome, I mean that was his whole deal. Woody was cute and twink-ish but that had more to do with his character rather than his physical appearance. Now that I think about it, it's funny that most male characters from Cheers/Frasier ended up being bald, the exceptions being Norm, Cliff, Coach and Martyn.
show is for stupid people who think they are smart
This is actually the midwit take. There wasn't a single true high brow reference in the show. Its just a comfy 90's sitcom.
midwit responses no shit there weren't any actual highbrow references
it's all just for normal to dumb people to BELIEVE they are bright, it's just another dumbass sitcom
what's Kelsey up to now, lol making the show the game....great
>it's all just for normal to dumb people to BELIEVE they are bright, it's just another dumbass sitcom
I don’t feel smart watching the 90s sitcom so you might be projecting.
You are projecting you uncontrollable fixation on your own inferiority onto others. Functional people watch shows they enjoy, not just shows they think smart people enjoy.
The whole point of the show is that Frasier and Niles ARE that person who puts on airs and acts like a pompous ass but can't navigate basic situations. They're tryhard chuddies whose main motivation in most episodes is just chasing pussy or getting comically in-over-their-heads because they aren't as clever as they pretend to be.
No, c**t, it was a kind show that poked fun at highbrow pretentions with the audience, without denying that those aspirations were comfy.
Not really. The highbrow references are almost always irrelevant. Occasionally they make a scene title card funnier or give an extra layer to a punchline but they're never essential which is why it appealed to so many people. It's just a good show.
"Stupid" or less well-read people that like the show might be inclined to look up any of the many references to deeper material like Shakespeare, just to understand what the characters are talking about or even referencing. Or all the little hints about psychology stuff that make one think and reflect about things and above all oneself.
Besides all that and more it's simply just the definition of "comfy". Kelsey Grammer alone is a delight to watch act, Hyde-Pierce as well. A lot of the writing is great.
It's a nice thing they made up, at worst it's perfect background noise.
>NILES THE NEW ROBO-BUTLER IS OUT OF CONTROL
Lol this episode was great, maybe one of the best.
90% of the show itself was mocking pretentious, pseudo-intellectual buttholes like Frasier, Niles, and the people they would want to associate with. This is why characters like Daphne and Marty exist to foil them, they give perspective on how Frasier/Niles' taste and the degree to which they're "cultured" doesn't matter to people with ordinary sensibilities that are secure within themselves. It also strongly implies that the only reason the brothers are so into high-concept things is because they're ashamed of their blue-collar father, because they think hard work is for stupid people. If you seriously think that the show was anything other than a fun sitcom using self-absorbed snobs as a plot device for flavor-of the week episodes, you didn't watch the show and don't understand it.
eh, while Frasier is occasionally the butt of the joke as often he's playing the straight man to a parade of boorish and unreasonable people, some crass, some even more snobbish than he is. the show does ultimately want you to like and empathize with Frasier.
>the show does ultimately want you to like and empathize with Frasier.
Yes, despite his flaws, not because of them, because he’s ultimately a decent human being who wants to help people and has a lot of integrity.
Because he is trying very hard not to be a poor loser that lets his ex abuse him
He is like a fat b***h that lost weight, his degrees and new found south worth are shallow and challenged constantly
Correct. That's why the only ontologically evil character was Bulldog.
wrong, that would be the b***h from season 10
One of my favorite episodes is where they try to get cheap caviar, showing what pompous wannabe social-climbers they were and failing utterly.
what a comfy Friday night in Seattle.
I like Kelsey Grammer, he's funny.
His head is bulbous.
Looks more like that freak from the Mask or Carrot Top but there you go.
It's uncanny.
>large head
>male pattern baldness
>tall
>that jawline
This is all just emblematic of a high-T phenotype, Frasier is a Chad. No problem here.
frick Frasier and frick Kelsey Grammar. Trump loving, Putin dick sucking, anti abortion piece of shit
SCHWEINEHUND!
Now I like everyone you mentioned in your post even more.
I’m a tradie going back to school for medicine and I’m afraid I’m turning into him
Yes they are both sitcoms. The difference is that Frasier is funny and sometimes even clever.
Dr. Mary did nothing wrong.
QUITE STYLISH
>GET OUT
you can insult a man's family but never his hand towels
Sounds like a Jon Arbuckle line
It's an old joke. Niles was re-telling it to cheer up his brother.
