I'm really starting to believe this might kill Hollywood. So many of their movies are flopping and people aren't interested in movies as much anymore. I would not be surprised if random people just start making their own low budget movies by themselves and theaters start showing them due to nothing else being out.

It's going to go on for a while, Hollywood is a losing a lot of dosh with their investment in steaming, home video sales declining and multiple box offices bombs.
They needed this strike in like 2018 when Hollywood was making big bank and the execs were not sure on Ai being viable.

Bro they only get $400 on top of their $30k, they need more

        Anonymous

The studios are being shitty too. The only thing I want to come out of this is I want the studios to have to make their streaming viewership numbers public like Youtube, but that is the least likely part of the strikers' demands to be met. They know a lot of their bloated pet projects have viewership in the toilet and they think they can fake it till they make it. They don't want to have to explain why Rings of Power is getting a second season when its viewership is worse than a show that got canceled.

          Anonymous

That part is what would basically frick everyone over, I think. If you make the numbers public.

          >Now actors from shitty shows have no bargaining power
          >Now shitty shows are jettisoned as investors are furious that so much money is being wasted on pet projects and affirmative action shows
          >Now management has to pay prize-winning actors/shows a lot more
The latter are the only ones who really win.

          oops

People universally revile hollywood and suits in general. There's simping for certain suits but it's very specific individuals with cult followings like Musk. Otherwise if you ask people would they rather have 100,000 dollars or get to torture a rich executive/upper management type they'd ask what kind of torture is allowed and how long they get to torture them.

Regarding residuals, I understand actors, writers, producers and directors get them.

Do the animators, set designers, casting people, basically everyone else in the credits get them too?

    If not, why not?

They don't deserve them like the writers and actors because they're poor.

of course not since they aren't pretentious buttholes who think the entire production depends on them. Hell today the CGI are more responsible for a movie being good than the actors and writers combined and they get paid shit and are forced to work more
