>Sooner or later the only rips that will exist are those shitty bullshit faux 4K Netflix rips that have lower bitrate than some 1080p Bluray
Feels bad man
yea, they cut the whole pool scene and other stuff. Its a 120 minute movie and it would air in 2 hour time slots with 30 minutes of commercials. They cut out 30 minutes of the movie.
Yeah this is what I do. Or eBay or some other online store that has it for a discount.
I went into a BestBuy this summer to look at what they had, and most of their selection was $50 for recently released movies.
This was one of their major problems right here. At some point almost their entire selection was new releases but contemporary releases are shit. Nobody wants to buy Ant-Man 2 or the Black person Mermaid on 4k.
I actually spent quite a bit on physical media from my local Best Buy, but here's what I can remember buying >Lawrence of Arabia steelbook >Apocalypse Now steelbook >Jurassic Park steelbook >Alien Quadrilogy >Twin Peaks complete set >The Neon Demon blu-ray >Hannibal Season 1-3 >The Hunt For Red October blu-ray
New releases appeal to the same consoomers who actually fall for the streaming meme and are the last people they should have been appealing to. You're more likely to sell a rerelease of a 20 year old film to some cinephile who actually gives a shit than a copy of Fast and Furious 17 to the soccer mom who just says "I can stream it." They should have offered a comprehensive selection and instead they just whittled it down to whatever had come out last month which was always just a bunch of shit because all recent movies are shit. And then they wonder why no one was buying anything
>Jurassic Park steelbook
Oh yeah I recently learned about that ultimate trilogy one and bought it (for a decent price). It's so cool looking. The Jurassic Park logo is cool on its own.
>install their PS3
Since when do you have to install a gaming console?
They had a service where they'd install video game consoles at your home years back. I think it was like $100 or something. Pretty funny. I wonder if they still do that.
>struggle to compete with Amazon >stop selling things at physical locations at all >tell customers they can order things off the website instead >customer goes online >buys it from Amazon >wow we keep losing sales to Amazon how did that happen
>Go to Best Buy thinking there might be some clearance on movies since they’re getting rid of all of them >60 dollars for a blu ray >75 for a blu ray with three movies from the 30s
I can't see physical media ever going away. It's probably going to be online only direct from the publisher. So they can bypass Amazon and charge whatever they want. And the hardcore collectors won't have a choice. So yes, we're going back to the days of overpriced VHS copies.
I remember when I got my first HDTV. I needed an HDMI cable to hook it up and did not want to wait a week to order it. I rushed out to the nearest electronic retailer which turned out to be Best Buy and paid $40 for a cable I could have got on ebay for less than $10. Retail has no place in the economy anymore.
You'll own nothing
>It's not a big deal
>seen it with vinyl, 8track, vhs and cds
This. Media keeps changing. I guess that's a sign of a healthy economy. But I still have all my old vhs, cds, dvds, and blu rays.
Oh no, where else will I be able to buy to newest marvel release for $35 on blu ray!??!1!?
This.
You will see
>No more anythign at Bust Buy
before you see
>No more DVDs or Blu-rays anywhere
You don't have to insult the intelligence of Best Buy fans like that. They paid a lot of money for Geek Squad to install their PS3.
>install their PS3
Since when do you have to install a gaming console?
Frick off autist
>Since when do you have to install a gaming console?
>connect cables
>add to network
>register and set up account(s)
>download firmware updates
>install and patch games

They gonna edit movies like they did with Home Alone 2
The edit of trump out of home alone 2 in the tv broadcasts was done long before he ran for president and you people are still fixated on that.
yea, they cut the whole pool scene and other stuff. Its a 120 minute movie and it would air in 2 hour time slots with 30 minutes of commercials. They cut out 30 minutes of the movie.
>trump
They cut way more than just that scene, come on don't be like that
No , I know they cut more but the people who usually are b***hing about it are the ones focused on the fact that trump was.
Plenty of home-video companies going strong still. Doubt that will stop anytime soon as there's plenty of demand.
anybody who collects gets it from thrift shops or Amazon at half price
Yeah this is what I do. Or eBay or some other online store that has it for a discount.

What the frick are you talking about. All you have to do is plug it in
>All you have to do is plug it in
Yes. And they offer(ed) a service to do that for you. I don't know who agreed to it but it was offered.
I saw them trying to sell Godzilla '98 for sixty dollarydoos as a 4K Steelbook.
>collecting goyslop
Frick
Liar i clearly see some
Best Buy is done professionally.

Disgusting

My local walmart sells blurays for 5 bucks. Shitty selection tho.
The one near me hadn't carried them the last 4 times I was there. And I go like once a year.
I don't think I have ever seen a bluray movie lol
I go to HMV
Test
My local best buy closed and now it's a Big Lots. At least Wal-Mart still sells physical media but it's a sign of the times.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
