What did you think of the ending? Film is good, loved the 50s aesthetic. I guess Greys want to create a human utopia, to make humans behave how they believe they should.

when the parasite is inside you youre delusional and imagine everything as great. we saw it earlier in the movie, but she managed to take it out and everything went back to reality. the ending is bleak where the whole town has been replaced by alien parasite people, but they live in a happy delusional state

The aliens seem to "release" her and place her in a simulated, vivarium setting so that they could observe of even raise her in the sense of singling out her genes. It would be pointless for them to populate the Earth with alien parasites parroting human behavior just because
I like that they had different greys instead of just clones of each other
some decent scenes but overall garbage. writing sucked, full of plot holes, tries to be some trauma allegory and completely fails. would have been better as a more traditional alien abduction film

Seems like they crammed every alien abduction experience into one movie combined with the no lines thing leads me to think it was all one big allegory for "Hollywood" controlling the population through media and getting high off their own farts.
The movie's flawed (alien CGI was subpar) but overall original, interesting and worth the watch.
The ending was: the aliens were impressed by the fact that she fought back/escaped them over and over and when probed psychologically they witnessed her inner turmoil and attempt to break free from it, so they placed her in a type of enclosure that mimicked her ideal natural environment (just as she wished by recreated her small town in miniature) instead of trying to make her swallow the alien parasite again.

Forgiving yourself for accidentally killing your friend in a 1 minute scene at the end of the movie, when the rest of the movie is basically just one big action scene is hardly development. There is no nuance or depth to the development at all. It just happens.

The scenes about reliving/freeing herself from the burden of her childhood events are clearly distorted in terms of time/space and couldn't have been otherwise, and the movie's initial 20 mins or so abundantly show (instead of telling) what her life was like and what led to it
it's not exactly about forgiving. She could as well live in the fantasy with Maude but decided to face reality. Ironically that made the aliens give her another fantasy. I need to think about this ending more

It was good, I liked that it didn't spell out everything for the viewer with exposition bombs. Altough I'm not sure the "no dialouge" stuff was necessary, or added anything much to the movie.
Also the sounds and the designs of the saucers was cool

I like my alien movies to be more surreal and bizarre so this one did the trick for me. Also the Greys having telekinesis and other dangerous powers, but still being able to be killed, was fun. They were also delightful from a creature design perspective--traditional sometimes but then other times deeply weird and gross.
Screencaps of the script show it as a stream of consciousness which tracks with the experience of watching the movie. It's all based on nightmare logic which is more interesting to me than a cleanly exposited and explained story.

There's a lot of neat little details in the movie you could extrapolate from if you wanted to. Like you said, the way their TK and their light beams were OP as hell, but the way they navigated through physical space was really awkward. Remember when the spider thing just fricking fell off the roof of the house? It's like our gravity or atmosphere or something doesn't agree with them.
