>day 1 >Cinemaphile likes the movie >day 3 >Cinemaphile realizes reddit also likes it >Cinemaphile hates it now
The ending was so fricking gay. There was no reason to let her live. God it sucked. Did they get the most moronic aliens in the galaxy to try and capture her? The friend dying storyline also sucked.
>aliens feel bad that she feels bad about killing her friend despite her killing at least 3 aliens
It's implied she's the only human who deserves to live because of her overall innocence and status as an exile.
The ending sequence itself is meant to be light hearted, even dark comedy in the fact that an autist like her would fit perfectly in a world full of nuclear family drones. The director also just wanted her to have her happy ending after shitting on her the entire movie.
PROS
actual alien grays
shown early and throughout, not in dreams/at the end/using a moronic owl as a metaphor
CONS
silence gimmick overstayed its plausibility
lots of scenes could have been edited/cut
overall made a lot of choices that favored artistry over coherence
overall it was flawed as frick but i have a soft spot for it. will mentally place it next to mortal engines as a mid movie i enjoy and rewatch occasionally.
This movie was...ehhhhh > no talking was Borderline pretentious. People talk to others and to themselves all the time, especially in scary scenarios >le metaphor for trauma movie for the thousandth time >last 20 mins was a fricking choppy mess of her getting captured then released then captured then released over and over as they tried to create some sort of plot >ending is nonsensical
Only good parts were the cool aliens and the chase scenes tended to be quite good. I thought that maybe the parasites were controlling the greys and that they were reproducing by using the greys intergalactic space travel to go to other planets thus, making the greys just as much victims as the humans but that wasn't the case.
I tend to watch any alien movie with a budget just to see new ayyy designs and most of the time it's an overall disappointing experience.
Not.only was this movie quite watchable but it's probably my favorite depiction of Grays ever put to screen.
The "smart" ones with telekinesis were great designs all around. The bloated torsos contrasting the spindly limbs, the feet looking and behaving more like hands, the sound of their voices, all great stuff.
The really tall one that communicates with the ship by twisting his 8 foot long arms into moon runes was also interesting.
Not sure what the deal was with the tiny old Gollum looking one though, like it kept changing its mind about wanting to kill her or something.
>cool aliens >no shitty drama with awful dialogue because there is no dialogue >just 90 minutes of fricking up these world ending aliens >aliens so powerful they just emp and use their minds to invade >no gunfire occurring, they're this efficient in their taking of earth

I'm honest to god glad you guys were happy with them, but nah, the grays themselves were the worst part. Weak CG after the initial 20 mins, vidya movement, CONSTANT generic ass movie monster noises even when they are trying to sneak up on the protag, and all the creepy factor is lost when they make them jump around like a monke and roar straight into the camera. Those chase scenes were like something straight out of Men In Black.
A fine, fine film with some intriguing ideas, but dropped the ball hard on the the ayy lmao front.
>end/using a moronic owl as a metaphor
how dare you insulting the objectively best alien movie ever you shameless shill, im not watching your shit mute movie, frick off
I kept forgetting she was an adult cause she still looked like when she was 16 and a lot farmer on Justified. It was an interesting take, but then it all being a total alien invasion, plus the ending, eh.
i actually liked it but it lost me at the end completely. i actually liked how it was just basically her perspective the entire time and no words but again that end was pretty moronic. the movie couldve been insanely kino if it had a bit of tweaks and maybe a literally me main character instead of the girl
My brain discarded the shitty friend dying plot line and in my head I was imagining she was caught in a crossfire war between Greys and Bodysnatchers. That would have been so much fricking cooler.
ayyylmaos were doing the same thing as AI in Upgrade with Tom Hardy doppelganger. Controlling people by giving them fantasies to live in. She rejected the one they gave her by pulling that shit out of her throat so they probed her mind to see what's going on and they decided to control her in a different way
Anyone who are fans of aliens please read: >shut the film off at the exact point they put a parasite into her mouth
the rest of the film is so fricking horrible, you'll retroactively hate the film
ehh I don't mind the dream part and how she solves that, I'd cut it off when she actually gets abducted onto the ship. She gets abducted and no one will save her, movie over.
Anyone who are fans of aliens please read: >shut the film off at the exact point they put a parasite into her mouth

thanks, I'll skip the end, I can already tell this film isn't about aliens it's about "muh female trauma" and when she gets probed it's an allegory for rape, so sick of this feminist liberal BULLSHIT
It's God awful. No dialogue, the girl isn't very cute, it's not scary at all, it's boring, the mystery of what happened in her past isn't exciting or paid off well in the reveal, and the ending is fricking moronic. The ending is the End of Evangelion but she decides/the aliens decide to let her stay in the sea of LCL. She doesn't learn anything or grow and is rewarded with a false happiness in the end.
Fricking utter shite
>girl isn't very cute
Plebian taste. she was fricking gorgeous in that ending. and the scene where the weird mind control thing deepthroated her? DIAMONDS.

My wife guessed that too. Would have been cool to see the grays as victims but I’m also glad they didn’t misdirect the danger from the ayyys themselves. Second act really was the best part.

why were the aliens in this movie so smart that they could travel light years, have technology that can completely incapacitate you, can implant you with a bug that hypnotizes you, but act like a brain dead angry pitbull when they see humans? Or are we supposed to believe that they have "soldier aliens" that work on the ground and the smart ones reside in their ships?
they didn't want to kill her. They wanted to probe her and assimilate her. If their goal was to kill her they could've just telekinesy her into the air then let go
Don’t be scared. They’re government lies. How anyone could look at this face and believe anything spewing from it is beyond me. I’ve gotten instinctual psychopath vibes from every government “witness” or “investigator” testimony so far.
i'm not talking about grusch bro, i'm not even talking about america, there's literally tons of reported incidents all around the globe going as far back as the early 1900's, not to mention all of the abduction stories which are also very consistent among different accounts, whilst we can't say for sure what is it, it's 100% fact that there is a phenomena going on
The phenomena has been going on since the beginning of human kind. People lie. One lies with an interesting story about seeing angles/demons/God himself/ or today aliens. Others hear the lie and base their own lie on the previous lie depending on how much attention the previous lie got. We live in an age with super cameras in every pocket, with amateur and professional photographers scattered throughout society equipped with equipment that would make spy agencies in the 70s blush yet the best “evidence” produced are unfocused points of light. Could be a ballon, a plane, or CGI.

The comedic ending felt a bit out of place imo.
Ok, she's mistreated by the town but she seems to accept it and have empathy. Her whole story is that she's sorry about her friend but doesn't warn the parents about the invasion just because they spit at her?
It would have made more sense if she was disliked for something she hadn't done and she truly hated everyone.
And what's the difference between living in a dream with her friend and living in the real world surrounded by zombies?
>doesn't warn the parents about the invasion just because they spit at her?
it was framed not as her saving them, but as her coming for help, but she couldn't go through with it. not for a very rational reason, but in the moment you can understand her not wanting to talk with them
Just finished it because my dumbass normie friend wanted to watch it. Not great, I don't get why she and everything in her house is from the 70's (even the fricking rotary phone LOL) and I don't get why the aliens give a shit about her emotional trauma. Feels like 2 different movies got fused into one and they don't quite come together. Also pissed me off how fricking dumb the aliens are for the majority of the movie, I've seen wild animals with more intelligence and these frickers have telekinesis.
Don’t watch movies released after 2012 simple as
More like 1992
>missing out on fire in the sky
admirable, but mistaken
I liked it. Best ayyyy movie since Fire in the Sky
The ending was so fricking gay. There was no reason to let her live. God it sucked. Did they get the most moronic aliens in the galaxy to try and capture her? The friend dying storyline also sucked.

Day 1

why? It takes like two minutes to torrent and then 1,5h to watch
where's the archive thread for that?
If Cinemaphile hates it, that makes me want to watch it more. Zoomers have utterly shit taste.
It's decent at worst. Reddit is going apeshit over it so of course Cinemaphile hates it

This, I hoped that the aliens were in fact infected themselves by the parasite. That would have been a great twist.

ACT 3 KILLED THE FILM
if I wanted to watch a reclusive mute moron deal with trauma, I'd rent "Jennifer 8" from Blockbuster
For real. When she gets abducted is when I started falling asleep

Exactly.

That's really not the case except for the dumb ending which is like 2 minutes.
There's not even any dialogue in this movie

Ayylmao
why is she surprised and remorseful that the ayylmao is dying after she rammed that wood into it
Because he's the one who telekinetically spun her around.
naw it's kino
they're calling my trad wife a woke feminist, it's Unbelievable all over again.
I watched it a few hours and it was ok. Kaitlyn a cute. Right after it I watched Leaving D.C. Good shit.

Stupid movie
White people are so stupid. They live in America but don't own guns
Btw this happened in the countryside where guns don't exist
I really enjoyed it. small alien felt like a creature created by Zach from oneyplays, so I imagined that alien making Zach noises
You know, after learning there is a non-human intelligence actually already present here among us on Earth, these movies kinda hit you differently.

no, she holds her own but it's a struggle and you are really rooting for her
This movie was so boring my girl started blowing me during the end. The chick ended up living among the aliens or what? Why would they spare her?
