Alcoholics are the closest men can get to regressing to babies. Sleep all day, wake up crying, piss and shit themselves, throw tantrums and constantly need their bottle. The only treatment they should get is being laughed at until they grow up.

I'm just rubbed the wrong way by the "I'm powerless" shit and the thinly veiled Christian handholding stuff for some reason. I don't want to go full Steve-O, I like drinking in moderation.

      >Dude all this 12 step stuff is so weird dude wtf I’m not doing that it’s like a cult or something
You know what, as someone from a white trash family full of addicts I heard this a lot and have even sat in on meeting with my Dad on multiple occasions and I agree that it is basically a cult.

But the reality is that alcoholics are such brain damaged and irresponsible and low impulse control morons that they need to join a cult to basically make them at least semi functioning humans and not empty demented husks who “have it under control!”

Anyone with a family memeber or loved one like this eventually breaks past the heartbreak and just starts to resent these fricks and morbidly waits for the inevitable “they died” call to come which ends up being a sigh of relief because at least now the constant worrying is done

I'd say only a few of those describe AA.

A religious group that aggressively recruits members, takes a great degree of control over their everyday lives, suppresses dissent and uses the threat of violence, blackmail and ostracization towards members who plan to leave.

I remember when I was looking up videos for flight sim gear a few years ago, there was this one video where the guy filmed the whole thing with shakey phone footage and permanently slurred speech, and he was so proud of his giant Jameson dispensor machine that he had in his gaming room. I had no idea that there were dispensor machines for hard liquor, but he had one, and of course he poured himself a cup during the video. He even complained "I'm running low, I've gotta order a refill. I've got enough bottles to last me though." When he actually showed off his flight sim gear one of the features he was the most proud of was that not only did he have a cupholder on his chair, but also a bottle holder for holding an extra bottle of Jameson so he could keep his drink topped off.

That was one one of the all time "I feel disgusted after watching this" videos I've seen on Youtube, and believe me, I've seen some weird shit. That guy is probably dead from liver failure by now but I don't understand how anyone can live like that.

      >I don't want to go full Steve-O, I like drinking in moderation.
So stop drinking as much. Put 2 bar days per month in a calendar, you're forbidden from drinking during any other day. Problem solved.

There's a lot of prejudice against druk on blue boards. I think it's because alcohol reacts violently with jannies estrogen supplements or something.

I'm an alcoholic but most alcoholic threads are turbo reddit. Don't get me wrong, I think /alck/ threads were overall good but to many homosexuals were like d00d so drunk xD. I've been in this game for too long, but don't feel like sobering up yet.

Having done a stint in a hotel for 6 months and had PBR and Captain Morgan by my side yeah I agree. Also, if I kept drinking like that I'd barely make it to 50.

Heavy alchies die in their mid-50s generally, very painfully. You won't feel bad until you do. Good luck. Drinking got my dad like that.

no thats the opposite of what you should do. if you have urges like this, to combat them its best to just keep making them as quiet as possible. at the same time make the urges that are compelling you to do good productive things louder and louder
