I think this is pretty great. Go watch garbage like Bleach if you think anime is better.

Fiona and Cake proves once again that Cinemaphile doesn't care about animation as an art. They're placated so long as they get their monthly delivery of kiddie slop that they can coom/fume over then forget about completely.

Jesus frick this. This board is just a bunch of maladjusted losers with no appreciation of animation but just looking for the next flavor of the month to jerk it too.

Both have been long past their prime. Anime for example peaked in the 90s-00s and moeshit killed it hard. Western animation has long since been on a decline since the 80s and despite a brief renaissance in the 00s-2010s the majority of animated series that came out recently were pretty dull and cliche especially netflixshit.

Give it a while for the hype to die down and the score will be a bit more reasonable.

how do we fix western animation?

      Anonymous

This is a bait thread anon. There's no such thing as "fixing" animation. Animation as a medium is only as good as the people that make it. if you want to "fix" animation, make your own stuff or support projects you like instead of complaining all the time.

there are no current projects I like and I have no interest in becoming an animator. so what now? Allow filth like Fionna and Cake to besmirch a once proud medium?

out of all shows you could've chosen to dogpile just for a few (You)'s on Cinemaphile, why'd you choose this one?

I am capable of being pleased. I discover old TV shows that are long over to enjoy. Now I'm enjoying King of the Hill. No modern shows on TV are like Kinof the Hill. There is nothing to support.

Not gonna lie I fricking hate what adventure time has become like remember when it was supposed to be fun? Not to mention the cuck himself Anthony Burch worked as a story writer.

Amerifats ruined animation because they're soulless obese mutts who lack vision. There's a reason the Japanese have been kicking their ass for decades. You want to improve animation, ban brown amerifats from it

I do hate how western animation is so thoroughly stuck in being used for children's shows or low-brow adult comedies.
Towards the end of adventure time and especially in this series, the show felt like it desperately wanted to be a show for adults with adult messages and themes, but still had to deal with the restrictions that come with being a show for children.

there's literally no audience for child's animation nowadays when tiktok has pretty much taken everything by storm and short form media seems to be the norm so there's little to no incentive in making a full length series aimed at children. And besides, TV is pretty much dead and streaming sites are at large very unprofitable thus being a threat to not just western animation but the entire entertainment industry thanks to the strikes happening all around.

      >but still had to deal with the restrictions that come with being a show for children.
The IP is still valuable and you can literally see AT themed merch and toys being given out to kids. If they were likely given full creative freedom by CN they can pretty much go on ham with the gay scene and even have them strip.

I never actually felt like AT of all things was particularly restricted. Sure, it's got a rating but due to the bizarre nature of the plots of the show it never felt like something was censored.

That said, most modern cartoons are lame gay shit anyways so I rarely watch them.
