Tom Ford is a billionaire fashion designer who just made films as a creative outlet. He clearly doesn't want to make a career out of it.

That's actually very accurate. He doesn't need to make a name for himself, doesn't need money. He probably funded his own project. That's why he had the freedom to deliver a controversial take.
And, though its not the topic, having a "fashion" background certainly helped him create a visually pleasing film.

do you remember how the movie starts with? literally making fun of fatties.

            >literally making fun of fatties.
I suppose that's one possible interpretation, and most likely the correct one. But rather than making fun of fatties, I get the feeling that it was a more profound statement, also mocking, on the character of contemporary art. You know, when it tries to be gross and provocative on purpose, but in such a cynical movie it seems to be mocking that idea.

Ford has new movie(s) in the works, after he sold his brand and elderly husband died.

      Anonymous

He specifically quit/downsized from fashion design because he wanted to direct movies. He also just recently sold his brand which made him a billionaire (if he wasn't one already).

      >In November 2022, the Tom Ford brand was purchased by Estée Lauder for $2.8 billion.[54] Forbes estimated that Ford would earn $1.1 billion from the deal.[55] The following April, Ford stepped down as the brand's creative director and was succeeded by designer Peter Hawkings.[56]

If he wants to continue making movies he could self finance them easily, especially if we're talking the kinds of budgets A Single Man or Nocturnals Animals had. IDK if he wants to self finance though. I also know his husband died quite recently too so maybe he's still mourning and not thinking about kinos.

How do you #metoo a homosexual man?

Lots of them in fashion, I think with Ford they just seethed about his fashion marketing campaign which often featured sexually provocative images of women etc. It's a joke, that shit is so mild by today's standards when half of 18 year old females post their buttholes on Onlyfans. Most gay men are degenerate but most of them also see through the trickery of women.

        >most of them also see through the trickery of women
really where are them? because I know a lot of homosexuals and all of them hate men and side with the anti white/straight/cis/male coalition (for some reason since feminists still hate them for being men and blacks and coloreds are orders of magnitude more homophobic than whites)

Those guys have daddy issues/were bullied. Seriously, you can get any gay man on your side by just being a straight man that treats them like one of the boys and ignoring their extremely homosexual behavior. That's what they want more than anything else.

Well it was the only film in the last 20 years to explore male grief without feminism's "what about meeeeeeee" cancer. It might actually be the only film to do that in half a century.

    >all "le liberated and englightened" liberal women are just pampered bawds that make rebelling their core personality, have no values, hate their parents for no logical reasons and eventually turn into the conformist people they hated because that's more secure
    >the "evil right wingers" are just grown, logical people who try to find a balance over living with delusions
    >women run after Chad even when they know he's an butthole, then get mad at him for following his nature; they still stay with him though because they cannot admit their mistake
    >it all comes down to power and strength, and the only way for justice to be done is for the strong men to remain moral and above their base urges
Unironically and without memeing, how did such a movie get made in [current day], by a gay man of all people? Seriously, that's some right wing manifesto stuff you'd find in a Fascist state. Not to mention we're talking about a film that had literally no Black folk and featured 4 different redheads. What the actual frick? The movie literally opens by ridiculing the pampered kitsch modern artists peddling fat acceptance, then features Amy Adams getting disgusted at a stereotypical negress talking with an accent about dicks and cum on tv. That's bonafide White Supremacy by today's standards.

Seriously, how does this exist and why aren't more people paying attention?

Tom Ford is extremely in tune with the masculine soul. Not kidding, A Single Man, despite being a movie about homosexuals, also shows this very well. Its only female character is an absolute wreck of a person, even worse than the one in Nocturnal Animals. I am fully convinced that he really does despise women, or at the very least, he has a critical view of them. I don't think he hates them, but his portrayal of them is so sober and far removed from any kind of idealization, whereas it does point out with scorning accuracy their worst tendencies. His men are self-destructive too, but they are treated much more sympathetically. He's a very interesting director in that regard.

A man took away the male protag's chance at a happy life at having a family. His angry confrontation is with a man.

The rapist is the image of his ex-wife. You can tell when he quotes her, calling him week. The novel leads the woman to believe at first that she's the victimized wife. but the ending demonstrates that she's the killer.

Certain environments bring out the worst in people. The fashion industry is very female centered and it's based on predatory tactics, backstabbing and relentless competition. Mental illness and psychopaths about, but most importantly, it lets you see how pretty women act and think. And being gay, he's not blinded by their pussies, so he can see just how petty and deplorable they can be.

in the last scene she texts him "hey what happened where are you?"

      1)what does he answer?
      2) if nothing, what does hurt women more? to leave them on "delivered" or on "seen"?

        Anonymous

On "delivered". "Seen" means you actually read their texts, so you a) do care, b) will read their next messages, which makes you succeptible for further manipulations. Delivered renders them powerless.

          Anonymous

Everyone knows you’ve read a delivered text when it pops up on your homescreen. It just looks like you haven’t got the balls to let them know that you read it and you don’t care

            Anonymous

This. "Seen" is far more upfront, and thus a clearer display of spite.

        Anonymous

Seen is best because it says “I want you to know that I’ve read your message but if you want a response you’re gonna have to say something that isn’t complete shit for once” to someone without the ability to self reflect or empathise it’s a low blow.

Well, everything is being paid by DEI-ESG investment funds. The investment is the paycheck, which is peak "terminal stages of capitalism" where everything is rigged and sooner or later everything collapses on its own weight because everyone is too busy on making the money go to certain pockets instead of others instead of selling the public the things they want and need. If out of this loop, you need to build something actually good for it to be profitable. Thus good movies happening on the margins instead of the mainstream.
