What is even the point of having a holographic field that makes everything outside look and sound fine when you already want people to see how fricked up everything is?
THE TWIST WAS LITERALLY THAT THE BIG BAD AUTHORITARIAN GOVERNMENT WAS RIGHT AND THE SUBVERSIVE, FREE-THINKING INDIVIDUALS WERE WRONG

yes it did not any sense to me either. The series sucked.
The show was great. Started the books last night. It actually makes sense. The people in the cafeteria saw the real world, but as seen in the one episide they could change it. The people in suits saw the fake good world to make them clean.
It was really bad.
Besides being atrociously miscast, none of the characters act in any way that's even remotely believable given their circumstances. They also act inconsistently and there are awkward pauses during conversations that seem less like a slow burn and more like padding out the runtime.
"Secret" murders/attempted murders literally just happen out in the open, everyone plays fast and loose with their jobs and responsibilities, and people use vaguely flowery sacrosanct terminology like "Relics" and "The Before Times" interspersed with modern vernacular and expressions. They also waste food and are full of thugs and dissenters, with everyone basically ignoring the chain of command to do their own thing - all under a system that's supposed to be heavily regimented and oppressively tyrannical.
This has probably the least immersive world-building I've ever seen in what's supposed to be a big budget production. This is just bad, especially compared to something like Severance which has similar themes but is far more convincing and engaging.
Also half the cast is killed off in the first half of the season before we even had a chance to get to know them so it's impossible to even care.
I don't know what more you could want out of a show. Plenty of action, a cool setting. Maybe you should watch Severance which is a boring mess of basically no consequences. People dying is good it advances the plot. Nothing worse than plot armor.
Severance 2/10 (only good character that does anything is Helly)
Silo 8/10
Lol, Silo is not an 8/10
You really think it's up there with Sopranos, Wire, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, True Detective? No fricking way
I watched season one of the Sopranos and didn't like it. Of the other shows you listed I only watched Breaking bad. But yeah it was a good show. Season one of Altered Carbon is 10/10 for me if you need context.
Oh okay so you just have horrible taste
That's a pretty hasty generalization. I'm sure there are shows we both agree are good. Just because our opinions diverge it doesn't mean either one of us have bad taste. It just means we have different life experiences and react to things differently. Severance to me was very boring. I struggled to finish the season and I regret watching. Silo by episode 3 I was hooked and binged the rest of the episodes.
Go back to r*ddit
>t. homosexual
Get lost kid
Other anon is correct you have shit taste. If altered carbon was just the investigation into Bancrofts "murder" then it would have been 10/10 but everything else in the series was massively gay
>other people have opinions different than me so it must be bait
>addresses none of the arguments
>just asks "what more do you want??" like a moron
There are no real arguments. You just want a rise out of people for the lawls.
0/10, got me to reply
>all under a system that's supposed to be heavily regimented and oppressively tyrannical
To some extent sure, but they make it painfully clear that the people in charge are barely holding on to power by a thread and still retain some level of basic morality. They talk about how they have been losing cameras on all levels. For the widiwife, instead of flat out killing her they put her in a drugged up dream land. Even though the protag wasn't supposed to be born they still let her live and grow up and even let her become sheriff. For her mother, despite her breaking the law, they just destroyed her stuff instead of killing her.
The point is it isnt just your generic, incredibly tyranical government. That they try to have some standards but are slowly becoming more corrupt as they lose resources and become more desperate. This is also a hint towards them having genuinely good intentions.
It sounds like you projected a lot of expections and ideas based on nothing really. You should stop doing that.
>Also half the cast is killed off in the first half of the season before we even had a chance to get to know them so it's impossible to even care.
Ah, so you're autistic, got it
>you expected it to be logical and consistent, stop that!
Mmhm
>all under a system that's supposed to be heavily regimented and oppressively tyrannical.
If you're not actively trying to overthrow the government or building a fricking microscope, you can live your life freely. Mayors are elected, and the secret security only cares about nobody knowing about the other silos. It's hardly tyrannical
Very well put.
>silo
>shantaran
>severence
>the black bird
why is apple the only streaming service that manages to deliver actual kino? "shantaram" even goes so far to give us a white male lead that becomes a saviour figure in a bombay slum without emasculating him all the time.
>h-heh they even have a w-white ma-
Appleshills are so pathetic
show hands
Show Apple card
>the people in suits saw the fake good world to make them clean.
that doesn't make sense, they should immediately realize that what they or the people in the silo are seeing is altered, and all previous cleanings (they surely witnessed a couple, they're adults) made zero difference. IF you want to signal something is up it makes much more sense not to clean at all.
> they should immediately realize that what they or the people in the silo are seeing is altered
Why should they? The technology to do that has been erased from peoples minds for who knows how long, the fact that a camera exists blows peoples mind in the show
>and all previous cleanings (they surely witnessed a couple, they're adults)
They are extremely rare, the show stresses this
>Why should they?
because they've spent their entire life looking at at a screen looking like a wasteland, EVEN AFTER CLEANINGS, and then see something completely different. Not to mention people usually want to get out because they already distrust what they're told.
Cleaning could not possibly communicate anything to those inside the silo and the characters could not possibly think otherwise.
>They are extremely rare, the show stresses this
How rare? At the very beginning didn't the mayor said that going a couple years without any cleaning is pretty good? Granted there aren't many bodies outside.
you know, i get that thats the supposed reason. but if you "discover" that the outside is green this is NOT a reason for you to clean, it does not make any sense. anyone who cleans lived inside, they know how the outside view from the inside looks, cleaning will not fricking change that. only a roomtemperature iq monkey would come to the conclusion that cleaning will show the grenn vista to the people inside.
i enjoyed the show, but the reasoning is beyond fricking flawed.
someone that has read the books please answer. Why?!
[spoler]From what I understood what an anon said here, outside the Silos there are nanorobos that kill humans there outside the Silos so they see everything perfect they take the mask off they get infected and die I think this happens for everyone to see that outside is still not safe and it really is not but far from the Silos there are regions without being contaminated by nanorobos at least that is what I understood what the anon said[/spoiler]
>spoler
The twist is not actually WHAT is outside but WHO did it and WHY
Which are
it's not a holographic field, it's just the display. It's just a VR screen. The area around the silos ARE dead and poisonous because of nanobots, but outside the field everything is fine and lush with green.
Basically no show in the past 5 years has been any good
How you all can continually watch so much slop I'll never know
It's like a level 1 matrix fakeout. To make the people clean / troll people who find the secret info.
>What is even the point of having a holographic field that makes everything outside look and sound fine when you already want people to see how fricked up everything is?
>THE TWIST WAS LITERALLY THAT THE BIG BAD AUTHORITARIAN GOVERNMENT WAS RIGHT AND THE SUBVERSIVE, FREE-THINKING INDIVIDUALS WERE WRONG
why?!
>THE TWIST WAS LITERALLY THAT THE BIG BAD AUTHORITARIAN GOVERNMENT WAS RIGHT AND THE SUBVERSIVE, FREE-THINKING INDIVIDUALS WERE WRONG
the surveillance state was justified
the suppression of relics was justified
there is literally no reason for secrecy, the population could simply be told outside equals death and all relics could be legal.
the biggest and most stupidly illogical jebait was the outside being an illusion even for those wearing the helmet. once you are outside there is no going back so it makes no sense to fool anyone as they die.
Take away morals: citizens are plebs who know nothing and should accept their highly surveiled and thought controlled existence because the government and intelligence agencies know what's best for them but you will only find that out when you die attempting to beat them. The heroes of the series are now a murderous spook and corrupt politician who would stop at nothing to protect their community.
It's like m knight shymalalamalan has a school for lazy bad endings and apple threw money at a few graduates.
Severance is almost perfect compared with Silo. Despite all the style and intrigue that Silo has it throws it all away by making all the characters and revelations a lie. That's not clever or subversive its just shit. It's like hey you thought batman was a hero well he was a paedophile the whole time! Gotcha! uh ok then well done writers you got me, I guess everything up till that reveal was you getting paid and us stupidly watching your now broken story so the joke is on us. I despair that another season of this train wreck could be written. It's like nobody learnt their lesson from lost. Episode 1: audience: they're dead and this is heaven. Writers: no it isn't. Seasons pass: the island is a special machine. Final episode: they're all dead. Bad writing is just bad and Silo had potential but shat on it for a conclusion with a shit aftertaste.
I dont really give a shit about the show, just watching it because Rebecca Ferguson makes me feel things no other woman does.
STOP LIKING EVIL WOMEN
Kind of funny that I liked Silo a lot but she did nothing for me. Didn't even show her breasts. Made me Google them.
Now this is a truly shit movie. She likes taking shit roles, huh?
Gotta air it out sometimes. please just one whiff. smells like heaven. due to the anal pheremones
If you want to watch an early Rebecca Ferguson kino you should give The White Queen a try. It's a series about the War of the Roses. Lot's of familiar faces, people who became famous from the show.
Her accent was terrible, broke all the time.
yo is that dune mommy
Yes, that`s Rose the hat, AKA Dune mommy, AKA Rebecca Ferguson.
>holographic field that makes everything outside look and sound fine
WHY, WHY, WHY?
It's very simple; it's nice for the people who are about to die to see "heaven".
...aaand also it convinces them to clean the camera, so that other people can see it, not that they can.
Lastly, it's a "matrix zion" type of setup, where you know a certain percentage of the population are going to rebel, so you have another layer of control ready for them.
Simple really.
What a load of bullshit.
>Simple really
Maybe if you're a writer for Nu Dr. Who
>not that they can.
which they fricking know full well!
frick off it was a massive jebait of the audience and you know it. You're literally such an apologist you've concocted fanfiction to explain it away.
It was a deliberate deception so that last episode could be the huge disappointment it was.
>What's the point?
So that they will clean the camera.
If the camera becomes too dirty, reality will be obscured.
The counter-argument may be why not create a holographic version of reality, then you don't need the clean camera. i guess it's symbolic. They want the people to see the real through using a real camera.
Seems like a stretch that people will clean and nothing else just because they see the world looking nice. Why that instead of jumping up and down and basedfacing at the scenery in front of the camera?
They also pretend to give them a suit that protects them, hence the whole tape and good in supply line
And?
why are they putting fluoride in the water supply to make everybody forget things ?
the world is apparently shit outside and they should be happy to be living in the silo
Who cares, this show is just a placeholder until the Fallout TV series comes out anyway.
after the dumpster fire that is ROP, are you really confident, Amazon studios won't butch it?
>MUH BIDEO GAME SHOW
shut the frick up
It'safraid.jpg
That's quite a reaction there anon, can you show us where the vidya touched you?
sorry I'm not a moron who gets excited to see more cash grab low effort video game adaptations
>WOWEE IT LOOK JUS LIKE DA BIDEO GAME BUT IT'S ON DA TV NOW WOOW
you probably watch marvel movies too fricking homosexual
What?
You heard me
It's shown in the series that they want a compliant populace, they even prevent undesirables from having children, so they let those who troublemakers latch on to the belief that outside is safe so when they send them outside they can both easily kill them and reinforce control over the Silo
I am detecting a nipple. Looks like the actress got a little turned on in this scene.
>There are a billion fanbooks about other silos
I'm almost curious
I havent finished the series probably wont but this doesnt make sense. One of the episodes where the power is shut down, and ppl congregated in the cafeteria viewing area, a few see the view screen glitch out and turn into paradise. If the paradise overlay is only fed into the helmets of the ones banished to the outside for whatever reason... why would the view screen glitch in the cafeteria
they are grooming, manipulating the people like in some dysgenic program so they can create a new humanity that will be RETARTED permanently.
They killed almost all humans on earth 8 billion or whatever and kept a few thousand in the silots. And they intend to allow even fewer to live so humans can restart as moronS.
extremely elaborate idiocies, i read the book plot etc, to make the story work which it does not. Author is an idiot.
this is like sharks with laser beams guns attached to their heads but not funny.
And the scientists did this and that, bullshit that is like a jenga that cannot stand, and we have this junk story.
Are the silos right next to each other in the book too? And
>Where exactly are "the mines"?
>How do the tunnels not eventually intersect with those of other silos?
are those sensibly answered y/n
i did not go to such details. Its just bad.
They caused on purpose a nuclear world war and killed 8 billion people.
They left a few thousand alive and put them in silos and raise them like rats, kill them like rats and manipulate them horribly. They intend to leave 1 silo populace alive, which would be very few people even if all silos were let out and it was ok in their immediate vicinity they already have;
killed 8 billion people and because they thought it was BEST...
>Are the silos right next to each other in the book too?
Yeah, they are probably a few hundreds meters apart
>Where exactly are "the mines"?
>How do the tunnels not eventually intersect with those of other silos?
While it's not completely explained, mines are a touchy subject, there is an obvious taboo about going to far laterally (i think they make people believe there are pockets of toxic gas that will kill everyone if you frick around and dig where you shouldn't)
Radially, not laterally
I stand corrected
Why is paper the default mode of communication between people? They say it's really expensive. They seemingly already have access to computers in their units. Normalizing communication through some sort of email would make surveillance easier (glowBlack folk control IT, necessarily).
Paper could be used to deliberately send message privately but it's not really presented that way. I don't get it.
Its also really weird that nobody simply uses plastic/glass surfaces and erasable markers. There are ways to be write shit down without wasting valuable lumber.
They don't want people to communicate easily
Same reason elevators are forbidden tech
Paper in finite numbers can be controlled by the government.
>Same reason elevators are forbidden tech
Without elevators the class seperation between higher ups and lower decks wouldn't be as significant.
>None of this made any fricking sen
did Bill Gates write this? They killed all the populace on earth with nukes. They instigated the world war that killed off most of humanity.
Did people not learn from Lost? Mystery shows never deliver. Any mystery rooted in logic will be unraveled before the end of episode 1 because the author isn't smarter than the audience. The only way to conceal a mystery is to keep pouring on more and more illogical happenings, but then you can never have a satisfying payoff.
Silo is; a bunch of "Bond Villain" buttholes destroy 99,9% of humanity via nukes and imprison a few people that are left in Silos so they can raise them according to their own criteria...
It's based on a finished trilogy and it's following the plot (although while adding some unnecessary bullshit)
How did she think that the magnetic tape might do ... something? Why wasn't she killed by the obvious poison in the suit or the tunnel?
Is at least one silo run by Shariah law?
The silos are run by israelites who wanna turn everyone into woke trannies, so probably no, since sharia would mean killing all trannies and jannies
remember the Apocalypse intro from Mad Max 1 or 2, the good intro i mean.
Well they should make one for Silo. About the psychopath absolutely satanic conceited buttholes that kill off almost all humans as they thought they knew what is best....
So extremely badly done. Inept to the level of incompetence in storytelling. Episode 2 ends with her hanging on some rope above a huge lake of water (the element she made clear she fears like no other) - her lamp drops in, oh no, cliffhanger!
Episode 3 starts and she... Just climbs up again. Then the rest of the episode forgets the mystery and is about fixing a big fan (spoiler: it first looks like it won't work, but then it does). In the same episode there's a scene where a guy is out after curfew. Police catch him, say go home! He say OK, and goes home. This was a scene someone wrote and then an entire film crew shot with actors. Mindboggling.
Illusion of truth or something? It sort of gave me gnostic vibes.
> so its (picreal), the show
yeah it was lame. a better writer would have adapted small town politics as an analogy for commenting on the national/class politics the show is depicting while acknowledging distinctions, but instead it's depicting a small town of 10,000 people just behaving like a nation of 300million people.
ultimately it's an "oooo, que twist!?" insular society YA novel the same as any other you read over summer in middle school, the maze, the giver, city of ember, etc.
I did read how the books end up and I think the first season will work as a good basis for the upcoming seasons, if the series will end like the books, it has a potential of a good 5-6 season run.
>Le evil silo Cia masters are killing us to stop us from going outside
>Now let me just put on this suit filling my lungs with who knows what as I go outside to ebin own the glowie silo masters
Guys... cmon, you can see the twist coming from a mile away.
To add to this. That's why they made a big deal about detective what's his name taking his mask off. Just watch, they'll notice that his body is missing sometime and then he'll come back explaining how the poison was just enough to knock him unconscious
Based moron
woke pozzed globohomosexual israelitery fricking Black folk and hispanics ruining tv and movies. I'm tired of seeing coloreds and being told my whiteness is bad
Thank you for the spoiler, after watching the first episode it was interesting but then all thats left is the stupid mystery. And Jesus Christ is it stupid lol
woke pozzed globohomosexual nonsense eradicating white culture. its obviously white genocide propaganda by the goyim. eat the slop piggy one day youll get fricked by tyrone and like it
For that gay mystery, this is the an occasion a book should have been a 2 hour movie and not a 10 hour tv series.
Is it just me or do all these apple shows have a weird “safe” feeling to them, like they have the perfect mix of races cooperatively living together but they’re not quite shoving it in your face like Disney would. And nobody ever acknowledges this in the programming, it’s all just normal to the characters.
