I used to have that autism until I stopped seeing actors as people. Now let me explain. Cartoons get away with overacting because they're not people so your brain doesn't care if people don't actually behave like that. Real people overacting makes you cringe because your brain knows they're faking and exaggerating. If you pretend actors are cartoon characters and stop holding them to human standards of behavior, it doesn't feel as cringe.

See, that’s the problem, musicals feel like actors trying to act like cartoon characters. Stage plays can be alright but musicals always feel super awkward to me, I hate the live crowd and everything and I can’t get into the performances
Not really, but the thing with them is that like with theater you genuinely HAVE to watch them live to "get it", the overacting makes a whole lot more sense when you do and realize just how many people they need to depict the scenes and songs for and what distance, so i totally get why some people do, especially these days when most people probably watch a recording of a musical rather then go themselves which point you are basically just watching a badly produced/directed movie.
