The original movie has so much clout that it's not in any danger of being replaced. The story elements are a barebones travel adventure of self discovery, it's super easy to apply to almost anything. I liked The Wiz, even though I'm indifferent to black culture, pop music and musicals, it still works. I wanted to attach a picture, but got sidetracked searching for attractive obedient black women.
