It was mostly good, the issues being that character work could've been better (Jupe ends up being the only interesting character) and there's some odd editing choices. It's very obvious in the final film that several scenes were cut. It doesn't make the movie more confusing, but the cuts feel odd.

I don't like Jupe's backstory and I hope they cut it out or at least trim it.

It's the most important part of the film tho.

I kinda agree that Jupiter scene establishes the theme

But I think it distracts the movie from the main show. I come to see alien.

if Jupiter is so traumatized by the animal incident why isn't he alarmed to the UFO/animal predator?

He isn't traumatized in that way. It's the opposite, he gained an insane ego from surviving the incident. He believed he was chosen for something, and when he encountered a UFO (he thinks it's an actual UFO and not an animal because he smiles when it's sucking everyone up) his was basically proven true. But it was essentially an unlucky coincidence (bad miracle) and not the "choice of the universe".

Everyone knows the chimp backstory should've been given to the main black dude, to give him the appropriate fear and respect of dangerous animals. He needs to be the one to know what to do because of his trauma, while watching everyone else dismiss him as irrational.

Jupiter got it wrong. OJ got it right.
Asian, though rich now, got it wrong. The black folks got it right.

Jupiter didn't learn his lesson. He was a child star and had been living off that. He didn't realize it. Instead he got the delusion that he survived and made money because he is chosen by god ("Lucky").

OJ on the other hand always had his lesson because his dad had been with him and teaching him until 6 months ago.

So much worse than if they'd just moved the backstory to the main character instead of a minor side character.

it is mostly good, i just think there should have been more hypnosis scenes where the monster slowly entices Jupe to lure him over to its gaping maw in order to consume him

Kaluya is a good actor, but Judas and The Black Messiah was quite shit.
It was just generic even if we don't pay attention to it's leftist subject matter. Actually Spike Lee could've done that story better, tho not modern Spike Lee, but Do The Right Thing and Malcolm X period Spike Lee.

The finale just completely fricked up the story. Just, completely fricked it up.

I get that they wanted to have her do the SICK REFERENCE BRO but the film literally just 3 minutes ago established that bike should've shut down. You know, when it shut down when it was even further away from the thing in the first place. I totally get wanting to have your monster do some cool visuals, but why the frick does it pose at him when with literally every other thing it just swoops up and grabs? Every other time. There's not a single instance where it postures instead of grabbing them, but just for this one time its gonna show off it's cool origami skills. And then just to completely and fricking totally undercut the whole damn movie, she blows it up with a balloon. A regular ass balloon. Now it just looks like if literally any person in this AMERCIAN town had been carrying a gun it would be fricked. Giant ass monster but it dies to something that would not kill a normal ass human. Helium is literally more dangerous to breathe than it is to explode, since a balloon isn't going to hold that much pressure.

The ending just made the whole damn movie silly because the monster's powers up and fricking stop working and since it slowly eats people if just one person had any weapon at all, it's fricked. You took the time when the monster is supposed to be it's most dangerous and terrifying and made it seem like it exclusively eats morons, or liberal californians.

It's almost like the story never mattered in the first place, and Hollywood just funded this movie to tick another Black person checkbox. Couldn't be that though, right?

Don't forget the whole movie hammers home chasing fame or chasing the "Perfect shot" ends in death. So how does it end?

She risks her life to get the perfect shot of it exploding so she can go on Oprah. I feel like the theme of the movie might've been undercut a touch.

No. The movie says movie making has always been risky since that black horseman shot.
Jupiter and his family know UFO eats people. They sit on that without telling anyone and let OJ's dad die. They run a show on it. OJ had chances to sell the farm and run. Instead they stayed and stole Jupiter's fake horse.
Some people can get the shot and win the prize if they know how to work with animals and technology. That's the message.

It was bad only because it wasted the opportunity to make it actually about aliens or otherworldly events. When they did the bait and switch with the guys in the barn, I knew it was going to be as bland as it was, with it ending up as just a generic action film against a big animal.

I don’t think that means what you think it means.

I saw Get Out and Us and thought this is going to be like that.
I got some pleasant surprises when they looked up under the roof and heard people's screaming near and afar. Much better than I expected.

I saw the fricking Twilight reboot and it got the worst from US and Get Out

Nope is better because it saves monologue time and actually invests in the action scenes.

A rare example of a movie that fails because they tried to put too many ideas into it.

I liked it. I really liked the wide open scenery and the sound design. The only thing that annoyed me was when the power in the house gets cut off, you can hear the record playing spin down and the music drops in pitch, but the speakers wouldn't have any power to amplify the sound of the record player slowing to a stop.
I'm interested to see if jordan peele sticks to his word about not working with any more whiteys on his films, or if he was just having a baby tantrum.
