Image and popularity triumphs all logic and perceived "power scale" in comics; Kingpin is one of the most recognizable Spider-Man rogues, to the point Daredevil took him as well and became his most famous rogue while at it. So despite being a regular human with great muscle density they gotta make Fisk punch above his weight sometimes to have him look threatening.

Happens with superheroes too, can’t beat Batman in that regard, his popularity supersede any power scale.

There were outside circumstances for that and Norman didn't just no sail psychic damage. Nate was piloting the dude's body like a puppet for some time before Osborn was freed of it. Even then, it was a pyrrhic victory. You can partially attribute Nate Grey's meddling inside Norman's brain as a reason Osborn went Looney Tunes during Dark Reign faster.

Why and how is The Kingpin as strong as or stronger than Thor and The Hulk?

The one with Thor is the real Doom and Fisk is fighting a Doombot, assumedly.

Ok it's one thing that Kingpin can beat Captain America, and compete with and harm a Spider-Man holding back, but what in the actual frick is this? What moronic Black personhomosexual would ever think this was a good decision?

  8. 3 months ago
    Anonymous

Just capeshit writers being moronic and lacking common sense. Kingpin isn't superhuman and is literally just a tall fat guy.

What the frick is going on? You just have to work out enough and you can tank energy blasts that can instantly disintegrate clothing yet only leave scorch marks on your bare skin? I get that they have to sell Kingpin as a Spider-Man villain, and thus try to keep him relevant as one, but that's not how you fricking do it. This is the same idiocy as Batman surviving a trip through space and reentry with only a fricking Batsuit. When your "human" characters are more bullshit than the superhuman ones, you're doing it wrong.

I think from the outset when he's fighting Spidey, it only makes sense if Fisk is some kind of mutant.

All of Dooms failures are Doombots not the real Doom
All of Thanos failures are Thanos clones not the real Thanos
At least we can say all of the Galactus failures are on Galactus and not some sort of distraction energy contruct, I think...

Isn't Doom's armor strength in the 70 ton range on a normal day?

Why do writers keep trying to hype up Kingpin as this ultra powerful physical threat?

      Anonymous

It's how Joker was elevated into global, then galactic, then universal, then eventually multiversal threat, he's a part of the Batman franchise and its most popular villain by far, so they have to up the ante by wanking them out to be the scariest and most competent villain of not just Batman's cast, but all of DC's. Kingpin is a part of Spider-Man's villain's gallery, so of course he has to be able to toss around cars and have bullets bounce off of his skin, he's Spider-Man's villain.

He already does, and waaaaaayy too much. Or did you miss Reed Richards deigning to have to say Peter is smart as he is, Iron Man somehow getting beat up or his suit taken apart by Peter, Hulk losing to Peter in a fight, etcetera etecetera etcetera?

I hate that modern writers seem to take the Who's Line approach to comics
Where everything's made up and the continuity and characters don't matter

I really find it funny how people say it was Miller who made Kingpin great by focusing on his ruthlessness as opposed to strength and making him more believable as a crime boss, because really, Kingpin never stopped being a ridiculously strong supervillain. This just proves it.

He used his mastery of technology to find his dad and find out the composition of Doom's blasts from his dad's contacts and then hired a company to make oil that absorbs plasma beams. He could've just purchased Doom's armor so that Victor wouldn't have it but that'd be too easy.
