How many Ditko era stories has he done? Most of the stories I can think of are set in the 90's, which is just when he wrote most of them anyway.
He wrote a good story about Peter coming to terms with how much power he actually has as a minor story in Amazing Spider-Man Family.

Yes was the case since the issue came out in the 90s. Frick was the case since untold tales. Didn't change anything.
Proto-Goblin has already existed since 1997, Gwenschizo. He's a Goblin Formula test subject who was physically transformed into a red goblin-man, but he didn't build or use any of the Green Goblin costume and weapons. This guy's existed for decades and it doesn't really take anything away from Norman.
I've got more questions about how this is sounding like early Ditko-era Peter had even met Harry and Norman yet.
The same story fid have Peter and Norman shaking hands briefly, but I think the blurb is just describing the role people know Harry and Norman for. It's like calling Gwen "Peter's lost love" in reference in a story set when she was alive.

JMD's take on Gregor was awful, so I don't really trust him with yet another of Mackie's dangling plots.

It came across like it written by someone who was apparently only told that Gregor was a black guy involved with the Kravens and then decided to fill in his own details. He was a sad older man who had trained Sergei and who didn't want Vladimir to go down the same path, he wasn't an angry and crazy younger protege who was groomed into evil.

The story could go like this it starts in the past and then jumps some years Nels blames Norman for his condition and becoming proto-goblin so he abducts harry has him killed and replaces him with a clone. He begins to notice norman's fixation on Gwen so decides to rob him of his greatest victory so he kills her himself, clones her and make him think he fricked her and then sees him kill the clone all in the name of revenge.
