Yeah, imagine getting filtered by a show that goes out of its way to exlpain things to you because the writers think current audiences are mostly moronic (they are correct)
Not him but they explained a bunch of shit at the end of the last episode but it was all obvious. But yeah I'd agree that barely anything happens and this shitty show was spinning it's wheels so they could make money off of a second season
>but it was all obvious
That's the thing, everything is super obvious but on top of that the characters are constantly explaining things. This is not a show for smart people or very media literate people, it is so dumbed down it's almost insulting. And yet some people did not get it at all.
The ending was underwhelming, and the show spun its wheels a lot, tgat is true.
I still enjoyed it, but I don't think I'll ever give it a rewatch.
Oda Nobunaga, Tokugawa Ieyasu, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi are usually regarded as being equal parts of a greater single event. They don't rank higher or lower than each other.
Without Tokugawa and Toyotomi the Oda would have never achieved its initial success, they all worked towards a single goal and that was the military conquest of Japan (which was successfully achieved)
One simple google search of the staff on this show and you'll see they are all previous netflix slop producers, hired by FX and given free reign to produce yet more slop.
The new version of Shogun bungles the relationship between Blackthorne and Mariko as well as completely fricks Blackthorne and Torunaga's.
It's supposed to be a more personal story told against the background of sweeping grand historical changes burning through Japan. Because nuShogun fumbles this, all that's left is the gloss of Japanese history.
It's not that "nothing happens" but what does happen is superficial and incomplete snippets of history coming through with the heart of the story gutted.
Yep.
Essentially, whole show can be summarized with >Mariko commits suicide, which forces Ishido to release the hostages >with hostages free, Toranaga is free to move against Ishido
Mariko could have done that in episode 1,
In an NHK taiga the entirety of this series would have taken place in 1 or 2 episodes, out of a 50 total. The average American just can't handle history, they need constant emotion and drama and israeli messaging on the screen at all times. The moment a history lesson comes on screen they go to sleep.
>Asian men hate the show because a white guy fricks Asian women >Catholics hate the show because John Blackthorne hates them >Protestants hate the show because John didn't do a whole lot to defeat the Catholics >Bookgays hate the show because it didn't copy the books 1:1 >Marvelgays hate the show because there is no soulless epic battle or orange slices >Illiterates hate the show because they have to read subtitles >Normies hate the show because because Japan is too weird for them >Zoomers hate the show because it's longer than 5 seconds and thats too much time away from their phones >Incels hate the show because a women >Contrarians hate the show because it's good >Boomers hate the show because a 1980 version exists and "Old Good, New Bad" is their slogan >/got/ hates the show because the Regents didn't award the title of Shogun to the one with the best story >Animegays hate the show because Toranaga doesn't have an episode long fight with Ishido that takes place mid-air with their katanas clashing a thousand times a second >Lefties hate the show because a strong black woman doesn't become Shogun >/misc/ hates the show because it didn't have John become Shogun while turning Japan into his personal harem >Only the cultured few who wanted to see a story that remained authentic and true to the Japanese culture of the period enjoyed the show.
Water flows through stones
The sticks and twigs may not pass
The stream becomes pure
If anything, this series will serve as a very good reference to Japanese people on how Americans are presented history. They will better understand why we are a golem nation.
>nothing gets resolved >almost everything that happened was meaningless
Now, if you were saying you didn't like the show because in the finale there was no sword going slashy slashy and cannon going boom boom i could understand you bieng pissed at it since probably you should stick to capeshit.
But saying that nothing was resolved or that everything was meaningless is just showing that you didn't watched the show or worse you watched it but were too dumb to understand it.
But then again, i have seen posters on Cinemaphile saying "why he doesn't tell his allies the plan" when the reason is literally explained in the first minutes of the first episode of the show, so seeing shit like OP doesn't surprise me.

The anon might be exaggerating a bit, but while i liked the show enough i feel like it could've used a couple more episodes to flesh out some of the plotlines and characters, especially Toranaga. The ending did feel kinda weird with the whole Toranaga is a secret butthole, whoops, the end
A question;
Fuji was leaving to go become a nun and take her husband and son's ashes to the temple to be close to them
Anjin convinces her to spread her loved ones ashes into the sea
Does this mean that Fuji stayed with Anjin even though her obligation as consort was over?
I want to believe that Anjin and Fuji enjoyed a life together and made many HAPA babies
i don't understand how people can be as moronic as OP
Yeah, imagine getting filtered by a show that goes out of its way to exlpain things to you because the writers think current audiences are mostly moronic (they are correct)
They didn't explain SHIT
t.ultra weeb lord
They're always explaining what they're about to do or what they just did.
If you're too moronic for this show you're too moronic to live.
Not him but they explained a bunch of shit at the end of the last episode but it was all obvious. But yeah I'd agree that barely anything happens and this shitty show was spinning it's wheels so they could make money off of a second season
There is no second season, Tokugawa establishes himself as Shogun and Japan enters a 200+ year era of peace.
The show ends and he's not Shogun yet. Though they do spell out what happens next.
He has a small skirmish with Toyotomi's heir who has just come of age, it was a great battle but very short.
Ummmm
>Tokugawa establishes himself as Shogun
Eventually
Off screen
So they say
>but it was all obvious
That's the thing, everything is super obvious but on top of that the characters are constantly explaining things. This is not a show for smart people or very media literate people, it is so dumbed down it's almost insulting. And yet some people did not get it at all.

Expectations = subverted!
Yeah to be honest the "ending" was a big disappointment.
Isn't the show about Tokugawa Ieyasu, the second most important person in the history of Japan?
How can a story about him be meaningless?
If you want to see proper Japanese history portrayed in drama, look into NHK taigas.
This western trash missed the mark.
Yes but they somehow managed to not tell his story
Story isn't about Tonenaga or Anjin, but about our god-and-savior Mariko.
They are supporting characters compared to Mariko.
>the second most important person in the history of Japan?
Who's the first?
Macarthur.
Mushasi
First most important 'person' is the title of Emperor.
Oda Nobunaga.
Oda Nobunaga, Tokugawa Ieyasu, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi are usually regarded as being equal parts of a greater single event. They don't rank higher or lower than each other.
Why does my boy Mitsuhide get no play? 🙁
His history is interesting but ultimately he was just a vassal of Oda
Toyotomi is always depicted as a fool, Oda is seen as a demon and Tokugawa is the young golden boy that did nothing wrong
and the viper of Mino was the one to set the stage for this grand play
Yes but without Oda the other two couldn't have done it
Although without the other two Oda might not have been able to do it
Without Tokugawa and Toyotomi the Oda would have never achieved its initial success, they all worked towards a single goal and that was the military conquest of Japan (which was successfully achieved)
ODA NOBUNAGA, THE DEMON KING.
No seriously, that’s what they called him. When he was alive, I might add.
Truman
Akira Toriyama
commodore perry
not exactly
toranaga is obviously based on tokugawa but a ton of the details and character relationships in the show are fantasy
it's over anon, go sperg-fixate on something current
The prophesy
Welcome to Netflix shows.
It's not even a Netflix show
One simple google search of the staff on this show and you'll see they are all previous netflix slop producers, hired by FX and given free reign to produce yet more slop.
Its a Disney show
Cute women won't fix your show where nothing meaningful happens, sorry
The climax of the show.
How do people feel about the creators of this show saying that John Blackthorne represented colonialism and capitalism
They did their job of crushing history's oppressor, the white male, by castrating him.
did they really remove his thick long wiener and big hairy balls on screen? frick yeah I have to watch this
Read a history book, b***h.

Yeah Mariko and John basically have no romance scenes which is sad, - still I thought they kinda had hot chemistry.
Western audiences can't handle history lessons.
Yep.
Essentially, whole show can be summarized with
>Mariko commits suicide, which forces Ishido to release the hostages
>with hostages free, Toranaga is free to move against Ishido

You have to be a moron to think any book is 1:1 adaptable to screen.
You have to be moronic to think fundamental changes to the core of the work constitute adaptation.
It does. Thats why it’s called an adaptation and not a transposition.
Irrefutable.
tldr
(you)
tldr is
>It was good because so many people didn't like it
Just basic contrarian logic
Only helpful logic there is tbh. Being a contrarian is the only thing that has helped win.
Frog-sama speaks the truth, these barbarians do not know true art.... and they smell funny.

moron

I also like not watching shows
