First season is good. I didn't bother to watch the 2nd.

Two seasons? There is only one. That politically correct bullshit about the Japanese has nothing to do with The Terror. It was clearly another show that they rebranded to leech of Terror success.

S1 is fantastic. Some of the best tv we have gotten in the last decade.

Never watched the second season since I heard that it's horrible. First season should've been the one and only season. Pure kino.

Imagine getting filtered by Tuunbaq. He's the most kino part of the show and ties the entire theme together.
Without Tuunbaq the show just becomes a stale survivor show like all the others.
    Also
spirits and creatures exist. If you've ever been outside of your shitty basement of your shitty suburb and went camping or even walking through the woods you'd know that things exist beyond our understanding
In conclusion, Tuunbaq seperates actual connoisseurs and Cinemaphileists from Redditors, newbies and fatties who have never been outside.

      Sundog > Tuunbaq

Incidentally the Terror threads were some of the best in years. Good show = good threads hmmmm

Would have been way better with a normal polar bear. Turning it into some kind of monster was stupid.

It was a normal polar bear moron. They only saw it with a human face because they were hallucinating from the lead in the cans. Did you even watch the show?

It probably had mange or was disfigured

Did people think it was called The Terror because of the monster and not because it was the name of one of the ships?

S2 was really disappointing because it was an ambitious idea riddled with moronic cliches and nonsense.

Just pretend The North Water was actually season two.

I rewatched the first season after reading the book, that was a mistake. The series is pretty unwatchable if you have read the book.

      Why?

They changed A LOT from the book, almost all characters are different, except maybe Cornelius Hickey.

They added unnecessary tension between the captains, especially between Crozier and James Fitzjames, just to add conflict to the show. In the book James Fitzjames is a meek young gentlemen with a lisp that looked up to his superiors.

The eskimo woman is no longer a mute who had her tongue removed, which in the book served to show how alien the eskimo are in their ways compared to the British sailors.

It's just so much that I can go into that they changed for seemingly no good reason at all.

Fitzjames isn't much of a character in the book, because when it was written there wasn't too much historically known about him. The show was made a decade later and was able to do a more in-depth version of him based on the history that had been uncovered in the decade since the book

I love the show but the book does a way better job and garnering sympathy for James as he gets worse and worse and begins confiding in both Francis and Dr. Goodsir. He’s actually the first officer to refer to Goodsir as “doctor” instead of mister, which the rest of the officers and even Sir John did for the entire expedition. There’s a lot of great stuff between Fitzjames and Goodsir that got cut so Goodsir could steal Lieutenant Little’s relationship with Lady Silence.

    Season 1 literally 10/10
Season 2 felt much cheaper and went back to cheap jump scares and blatant magic shit

Someone explain to me how a steward was promoted to a lieutenant. Yes I realize the situation was dire and they needed more officers, but isn't a steward very low ranking? Were all the warrant officers dead? I know the diver and ice masters couldn't have been they only ones.

First season was great but the monster looked fricking stupid. Should have just been about men starving to death

Second season was good in parts, slow overall

Not having the isolationism aspect meant the writers had to work twice as hard to make season 2 compelling, not put in half the effort. What a waste.
