Pretty bad overall, both as a Watchmen sequel and a DC Rebirth sequel.
Maybe it would've been better without all those delays, you just know plans changed at least once or twice, the Bendis Legion shouldn't be in this book.
>either I die or the universe is destroyed >oh wait it can also just be that neither happens, I don't know why I didn't think of that even though I'm omniscient
Do they ever explain why Dr Manhattan can't see past the point where he fights Superman? Huge fricking copout
It's okay. The only thing that I liked was the scene with Doctor Manhattan kicking the DC Heroes' asses on a planet. And the part where Manhattan was talking shit about magic.
Mediocre in every sense of the word. I had terrible pacing compounded by the constant delays trying to push out this turd and the central plot point about Manhattan not being able to see past the Superman punch never gets explained despite being the entire impetus of the plot. The ending being a glorified advertisement for future events was just the cherry on top of the shit sundae.
Because it wasn't designed to have post content, and nobody who has written anything since Moore has any idea why the story works in the first place (not that Moore does either)
Had potential, weak execution. It could have been a better story addressing the crumbs sprinkled before it even started.
I expected a plot line with Ozy teaming up with Luthor. I thought there would be a longer and more drawn out clash of ideals between Superman and Doctor Manhattan(I did not expect any sort of slugfest).
Was Manhattan actually responsible for pulling Jor-El out of time, and splitting Superman in two(Convergance and New 52)?
The three timelines being merged at the end of Flashpoint, Barry clearly used as the conduit. Pandora's warning and death. Did Manhattan kill Metron and Owlman?
I felt very dissatisfied with the story we got after everything that already happened. I kept up with the New 52 in anticipation of Doomsday Clock, and I was just done after that.
If Cinemaphile could re-write the story, how would you have done it?
It was an above average story, that didn't live up to it's potential or the original Watchmen series.
The good: >The mimes >The slow pacing >The commentary >Using real-world politicians >Issue #12 >The art
The Bad: >Editorial interference can be felt every step of the way >Pretty much none of the subplots mattered >Geoff Johns shows that he's too scared to leave Alan Moore's ideas >The series is mostly filler >Where are the Flashes? They were build-up in every issue and mini-series going up to this, then the main event happens, and they're barely in it.
>The mimes
Kinda overrated IMO they certainly don't stand up with Punch and israeliteelee. >The slow pacing
I think that was one of its major issues, the story barely advanced and when it did it did so in the most clumsy and rushed way possible. Decompressed storytelling is only good when it furthers the main thread, which this did not do much of. >The commentary
What did it actually have to say though? It paid some minor lip service to Russian conflict but that's about it. >Using real-world politicians
Another thing that felt underutilized, might as well not have been in there >Issue #12
The worst issue? >The art
Hot take but I think Gary Frank isn't that good of an artist, all his faces are weird looking.
It was an incredibly overcomplicated way to transfer the blame for fricking up the universe away from Barry.
Manhattan just wanting to help some gay actor was a weird thing to do.
The mime guy and his wife were kinda cool, but they could have just been introduced into the mainstream universe instead.
I honestly don't remember much else about it.
that was the only actual change that l somewhat liked because he was a 1:1 of Rorschach, l only hated the fact he gets imprisoned in arkham asylum then you have to go through the most boring fricking arc in the comic
the mimes were shit. "oh le quirky latino ocs with randumb unexplained superpowers even though Manhattan is meant to be the only one, they serve no purpose tot he story but we will force them in every page so you can get hyped at how hecking chaotic and badass they are". Literally noone cares about these ugly unfunny homosexuals, Harley Quinn syndrome poisoned Geoff's brain.
Also black Rorschach had no reason for being there other than to demonise Kovacs. Ozy and Comedian and Lex and Batman were similarly pointless.
Should've just renamed it "Superman vs Putin vs Manhattan". Would've been much more accurate than pretending it's an event book for 11 issues
Pure 100% on its knees sucking Superman's wiener wanking. Did Death Battle write this?
Didn’t Death Battle admitted to not like liking Superman? Maybe it’s time to admit it’s rigged by WB.
moronic with some kino moments
Seething
>Seething
Facts = seething I guess.
>I hate superman
>participates in a superman thread
Someone is a little tsundere~
Calling out Superman wanking does not mean I hate him, anon.
kino and pleb filter

>How was it
Shallow
it was decent, not too bad, not too good, which is why it angered watchmen fans, they were expecting something superb
>Geoff Johns
I guarantee you that no Watchmen fan went into this thinking it'd be superb.
>either I die or the universe is destroyed
>oh wait it can also just be that neither happens, I don't know why I didn't think of that even though I'm omniscient
Do they ever explain why Dr Manhattan can't see past the point where he fights Superman? Huge fricking copout
Because SUPERMAN IS LE INFINITE!
Pretty pointless and absolutely not worth the constant delays
Shitty multiverse crossover for DC to milk Watchman (a actually good store that isnt shit)
The Flash has some of the worst cgi I've ever seen.

I still think about this RCO comment from time to time.
This might be one of the most overhyped comics ever.
I don't understand why, none of the post-Watchmen Watchmen content has been remotely good.
Because it wasn't designed to have post content, and nobody who has written anything since Moore has any idea why the story works in the first place (not that Moore does either)
>not that Moore does either
You're a tard if you believe this, btw.
Unnecessary
Also I did not understand the purpose of the side story with that closeted homosexual actor
Johns is such a hack writer.
How do people let them get away with milking Watchmen and canonizing their crossover fanfiction

I wouldn't write it, a crossover between Watchman and DC is fricking moronic.
>how would you have done it?
Simple, I wouldn't have.
Bad and pointless. Watchman was a single, self-contained story. Trying to make it anything else is a waste of time.
It was an above average story, that didn't live up to it's potential or the original Watchmen series.

anyone who uses the term "overrated" in any capacity should be shot
Overrated is the correct term for a thing that people rate too highly.
Marionette and Mime were kino, I wish we got to see more of them after they were dumped into the DC timeline
they were just Fanfiction Harley Quinn recolors, but somehow with even less personality
It sucked wiener, but at least it brought back the JSA.
>made OG Alan Scott canonically gay
but at what cost?
I liked the plot outside of the Watchmen stuff, feels like including that in the story really bogged it down.
It was an incredibly overcomplicated way to transfer the blame for fricking up the universe away from Barry.

Mediocre.
Good art, tho.
making roshach black was gay as frick
