Was it really better than the AVGN movie?

In terms of story, yes. Production value, no

In a lot of ways it was. AVGN movie was professionally made by professionals in a professional manner is all it really has over Kickassia.

Kickassia > Suburban Knights >>> AVGN movie > Space Cop

I've never seen To Boldly Flee because frick that runtime, AVGN movie was terrible but I couldn't even finish Space Cop.

its the best internet reviewer film ever made

I’d argue it is unironically, it’s exactly what his fans asked for, all these dorks together with lots of inside jokes and as their reviewer personas and if you read the reviews everyone that was a fan of them genuinely liked it and enjoyed watching it. He gave his fans what they actually asked for, compared to AVGN or Space Cop or all the other attempts by internet people to make movies he actually delivered for what his actual fanbase wanted.

I was a kid when I saw it and I remember being disappointed. In the buildup they kept talking about it like it was going to be a 'real' movie with, like, an attempt at reasonably authentic-looking effects and a feature film aesthetic. A similar concept to Space Cop. It was enjoyable enough, but it sucked to find out it was just them doing the same sort of skits you'd see in a regular Nostalgia Critic video but for 90 mins.

I feel bad for anyone involved in this production who thought it was going to somehow help their careers out.
Also, do they not realize that most directors got their start making SHORT films, that then attracted attention and led to larger films?
        Ex.

I think at one point he was in that weird category of people who were kind of "affiliate members" and were allowed to post videos on the site but weren't considered a core part of the group or invited to do the anniversary movies. It tended to be people who had built followings independently of TGWTG. The Amazing Atheist and Ashens were also part of that group.

The basic concepts of all those movies are pretty good. I also like that they're essentially written like Muppet movies (they focus on four or five of the gang and the rest of them are recurring background characters who only occasionally contribute to group discussions)

Unpopular opinion, but Suburban Knights is the worst one. People give To Boldly Flee a lot of shit, but its worst crime is being too long.

It will never not be funny that he's an old soul and his persona in his videos was generally dry and world-weary, but Doug consistently wrote his character as a sort of spastic hyperactive gremlin.

I want to frick her because I know she would absolutely hate me if she knew me. I want to suck on her breasts and let her know what a dumb b***h she is. I want to make her cry while I squeeze pleasure out of every little thing I do to her.

It's awful, but it works as a friend simulator. They must have had at least some fun making it. Space Cop and the AVGN movie on the other hand are completely iredeemable garbage and make me want to stop being imaginary friends with anyone involved in them.
